Introduction
The power of negative thinking should never be underestimated. It is detrimental to our overall well-being because it controls us, limits us, wounds us, and ultimately destroys us. Chronic negative thinkers tend to have a distorted view of the world. They complain, focus on what is wrong, see the glass as being half empty and will hastily craft excuses to not do something or point out why people—including themselves—have failed.
When you routinely harbor negative thoughts you fundamentally instruct your subconscious mind to create a negative life for you. As a result, you constantly struggle and pursue opportunities that are doomed to fail. Overtime, negative thinking eventually destroys your life because it negatively impacts your feelings, mental health and emotions.
Often the causes of developing negative thinking are more mental than physical. Stress, a bad relationship, a history of abuse, poor self-image, frustration and numerous other factors can change your overall attitude towards life which may directly impede your overall performance.

Consequences of Negative Thinking

Could Ruin Your Career
Positive thinking individuals tend to fare better at work because they can process information with remarkable levels of awareness and efficiency, and more accurately. Chronic negative thinkers, on the other hand, dedicate much of their time and energy supporting their negative mood, which impedes them from taking in the information needed to better their performances in their respective jobs. In fact, individuals with negative thoughts tend to put a spin on new information coming in thus preventing a clear view of the situation at hand. Pervasively negative thoughts can have a detrimental effect on your performance, ultimately ruining your career. You might even miss out on a promotion because of a negative attitude.

Negative Thinking Triggers Stress
The world is already stressful as it is. Repressing anger or venting, one form of negativity, increases stress for yourself and others. Stress negatively affects people in many different ways, and can be responsible for a host of serious physical symptoms including impaired organ functions, built-up muscle and joint tension that can trigger arthritis, and increased blood pressure.
Changing negative attitudes to positive ones can actually redress the health complications triggered by negativity. Positive thinkers appreciate the now, lead a care-free life, hardly get sick, and always look for the good in others. They relish each day as it comes, and live in the moment. With so many vices going on in the world today, this is perhaps the best alte
ative to bemoaning one’s life and future.

Negative Thinking Harms Others
Negative thinking is the most powerful poison in the world. In fact, it is the only poison that you can give to your peers, family, enemies and friends without legal ramifications. Negative thoughts are easy to conceive, but they can ruin your life and the lives of those close to you. With negative thoughts, there is no boundary to how bad your life and the lives of those within your social circle can become. You should never make others feel bad because it not only adds to you misery, but it also makes those around you unhappy.

Creates Unpleasant Future
Negative thinking is self-defeating. You certainly won’t find solutions to your present and future problems by looking for someone or something to blame. If you are constantly moaning and dissatisfied with your present circumstances, you are likely to encounter more of the things you’re presently unhappy about in the future. You ought to start appreciating what you have now instead of moaning about what you lack.

Limits Your Possibilities and Flow of Abundance
When you are in a negative state of mind, you fail to attract those elements that would make your life advance. Instead, you attract the circumstances that support you in thinking and believing that something is wrong, and you get stuck. Simply put, individuals who think negatively tend to attract negative events and emotions. Everything seems to go wrong when one is in a negative state.

Negative Emotions Shorten Your Life
Constantly depressed, frustrated and angry individuals shorten their lives. Extreme it might sound, but that’s how it is. You are shortening your life every time you let negative emotions overtake you.
Conclusion
From the aforementioned effects, it is clear that there is no single benefit of thinking negatively. Thus, you ought to begin directing the power of both your mind and subconscious mind to create the kind of life that you desire and replace your negative thoughts with ones that will realize you success and prosperity. It is never too late to begin.

I received a text from a fellow motorcycle rider friend of mine, Joe, on Tuesday December 7th, 2010. Sadly, the message read a kid named Carlos with a GSXR 600 just died from running a stop sign at 17th and Hackberry in McAllen, Texas. Kid? Oh no! It is always awful when one of your fellow riders goes down and gets hurt, a tragedy when they die. When I read the words ‘kid’, my heart bled even more.
