Intuition's Creative Call

Intuition's creative call demands that we create a "work" not because we can but we must. In the lights of day and shades of night, the creative call pierces our souls and echoes, “It’s time.” We intuitively see artistic visions, feel inspired nudges, taste wondrous flavors, or something else. Our soul wishes to express itself in beautiful, inspiring, atypical, candid, and controversial ways. If we resist or delay taking actions, we experience interrupted thoughts and a torrential burden. We find ourselves humming a tune, doodling on paper, or tapping our feet because our souls need an outlet.

The creative zone is a state holding consciousness and unconsciousness, energy and exhaustion, pleasure and pain. While in this state, we lose track of time but never lose our minds. Have you ever intuitively dreamed about wardrobe to design for yourself and others? Intuitively felt an unshakeable feeling to write a book about your life? Intuitively heard a joyful jingle to compose? Intuitively known how to beautify small and large spaces? Intuitively tasted desserts to bake and market to different businesses? Intuitively smelled a medical invention that benefits the world? Intuitively spoken, "I'll use cost-effective methods to draw on solar energy"? Intuitively sung a song about developing educational toys?

The creative call comes anytime and anywhere. One afte
oon, I sat in my dentist's office and stared at the ceiling. I noticed its square patterns and warm colors. An inner vision flashed in my mind's eye. The vision showed the ceiling's patterns and colors on a set of clay earrings I later created.

I intuitively felt a strong feeling to create a Christmas gift for my family. The enduring intensity of the feeling surprised me. After running in a local park, I photographed the setting sun shining through withering leaves clinging on a maple tree. I added the picture and biblical scriptures to an image which I placed on a coffee cup named "Faith." The gift continues to uplift my family, friends, and others.

One evening while at home, I watched the thriller film "The Taking of Pelham 123." When the character played by Denzel Washington threatened to shoot the character played by John Travolta, I intuitively felt and heard a poem rush from within me. I sat stunned, as the poem spoke about doing what you have to do to survive though you desire a different choice. It ended with the words "I just want to go home."

Creative calls are often inconceivable by our physical senses. Our intuitive senses guide us to make the unseen become visible; the visible versatile. Creative calls remain unmoved by acceptance or rejection. The same people who praise us today might criticize us tomorrow. Sometimes creative calls ask the question: How bold and free are you? When we finish creating a "work", we know that soon another creative call will pierce our souls and echo, “It’s time.”
