There is nothing more enjoyable, more enriching then the practice of spiritual awareness in meditation. In this short article, I will teach you all you need to know about spiritual awareness.
Consider this: In the mind, you are always going somewhere. You are always looking around the next corner for contentment.
Whether you are looking for your next lover, the next holiday, the next mountain to climb, the next task on your list to do, or simply the next meal, the mind is always looking forward to something.
And because of this, you are never aware of the present moment. You are in a constant state of avoiding this moment.
In spiritual awareness, you are always here. You are not looking to go somewhere, to attain something or to control anything. You are simply observing your experience in the moment.
In this moment, you become aware that breathing is happening, that thoughts are happening, the heart is beating. If you are aware of any of these things happen, without trying to control them in any way, then you are present.
Simply by keeping your attention on any one of these things, you are present.
And as you grow in your ability to be present, you begin to experience something that is here beyond all of these things. And that is that you are here. Beyond your thinking, beyond the body, there is a subtle experience of existing. It is attention itself.
And attention is the essence of spiritual awareness. Attention is complete in itself. Awareness does not want anything.
In spiritual awareness you recognize that contentment simply is when you stop looking for it elsewhere. Contentment is what you are at the very core of your being.
You stop moving in a linear dimension of time and rest deeper and deeper into this moment. Into the essence of spiritual awareness which is attention itself.
It is a completely different experience of living.
In the mind, you are always wanting, always worrying, always distracting yourself from this moment. This moment according to the mind is uncomfortable.
But in spiritual awareness, your are complete. There is nothing to change, nothing to get, nothing to control, nothing to judge, describe or define. You are simply aware of what is. You are observing without involvement your experience in the moment.
And the very nature of awareness is unconditional peace, bliss and love. The deeper you rest in awareness, the deeper the bliss.
In this very moment beyond all concepts you are unconditional peace. It cannot be otherwise.

Dear Keith and Maura, Do you think it means anything if a guy you like at work happens to give you his cell phone number out of the blue, or if you ask that guy – joking around – if he can give you a ride home from work and he has a big grin on his face? I work at a grocery store ...

How Could This Be About Me?
Dear Keith and Maura, I just found your website and podcasts yesterday and they totally resonate with me. I am a very active youthful 55. I was widowed suddenly at 32 with 2 babies. My soulmate died and I was lost and devastated. I banged around for 10 years raising my boys, working and trying to find a similar loving relationship as I had. I met losers, liars, cheaters, alcoholics, and abusers.
