Mind And Meditation

Mind is one of the most essential modalities of us human beings. To me it is the most fascinating part. The other part of man are essential also, but in my life the mind attracts me the most. I must say mind and Mind, also the Mind with the capital M. And the connection between those two.

Bottom-line for me is that I am convinced that Mind was and is first and then matter.

This a huge principal with superb consequences. It is also the point of which all (great) religions of the world start. If you think instead of Mind God, Allah, Krishna, Energy, Tao, Great Architect of the Universe, the space between the quanta or whatever you can imagine, you are right.

In the Western world was Plato one of the first publishers of this concept. However, I think it is build in our human genes. And it is so obvious that very much people overlook it. But everything we see is first appeared as an idea, image or thought.

This insight has a great impact and consequences. It means that we - or others…. - create(d) what we see, observe, perceive. And out of this follows that we can create and/or change what we see, and so on. This implies that we are full responsible for all there is (as we see it, everything else there is and we don’t observe doesn’t exist, or does it?).

The good news is, that we can create a good life if we don’t have it and a better one if it’s good. Development is one of the qualities of life, life itself doesn’t qualify good or bad. We can direct the way development goes in our own life and even in the life of others if they want and we want that, too.

It is for this reason that several honest and spiritual masters warn us for our thoughts. Warning means in this context: be aware of our thoughts and make the choice to let us go in these. Another choice can be to let our thoughts go to where they come from (who knows where that is…?) and plant other ones in stead.

Simply said is this the core of prayer or affirmation, in my humble view. With prayer or affirmation we use our underestimated Force which is the guide of our life. This Force is directly connected with Life Energy, God and so on. Maybe it is not only connected but Life and Force and all Itself. The most mystical Gospel, according to John, says in the first 5 verses:

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things came into being through Him, and apart from Him nothing came into being that has come into being. In Him was life, and the life was the Light of men. The Light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.” (New American Standard Bible © http://nasb.scripturetext.com/john/1.htm )

I did meditate and think a lot about this, and in this time of my life I summarize it as: the Force of Life searches Form, always and everywhere. It creates, goes on, flows and never stops. We are humans, on behalf of that we think and imagine. We have the ability to guide our thoughts and images.. Then it is helpful to choose the thoughts which give a better life, more fulfilled, healthier and wealthier.

The presumption of meditation and prayer is the belief that we can influence ourselves and even direct trough a purposed direction. Our attention is focused in our Inner and maybe Higher from there.

Prayer and meditation is as old as the human being, in some way it is also controversial. In these times the (brain- and body-) scientists agree that there is a positive change in the working of the brains and body when people pray or meditate. It is even said that people who do believe in something High are happier and more satisfied. However, you read this far so I assume that you are open to think about it.

When I go back from now to earlier, I can say that the discovery of a certain prayer is very helpful for me. I think that the content of such prayer is not essential, the length is. I’ll explain. In situations where it is difficult to exercise patience, I recite my prayer. It helps!

My inner aim is not at the given practical situation, but at my Self, or the Highest, if you wish. I feel the relieve and I’m sure the people in my direct surrounding do feel that, too! Even it is not at a conscious level….

An additional aspect is that the content of my prayer or meditation does its work, too. Emile Coué, a French psychiatrist from the 19th century discovered that a very simple sentence helped his patients fantastic. He became very famous, also in the United States and there are still very much people who admire him and use his ‘mantra’.

Here it is:
“Every day, in every way, I'm getting better and better."

The result of his patients were that stunningly that a big movement appeared of people coming together in great numbers on regular base and recite this simple sentence.

Meditation and prayer can be found in every spiritual movement from the Ancient times until today. And I am convinced that it will be part of life as long as humanity exist. The art of life is to find the manner that fits with the individual. The palette of several and different spiritual movements is that huge, that it is not simple to choose.

Bottom-line is, that the intention is directed to the Spirit, the Inner and that the object or content of the meditation is focused on One point.nn___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

I decided to write an article about getting things done and not worrying about perfection and found myself in need of my own advice... I like to think that I subscribe to the idea that "good enough" is good enough. Sure it's important to do a good job and make sure there are no major mistakes or omissions but for the most part get it done and get it out.

Wouldn’t it be great if we could do it all? Imagine never having to think about having the time or resources necessary to do a project because you had all the time and resources in the world. Wishful thinking huh? The truth is that you don’t have infinite access to time or resources. There are things that you might like to do that will be left undone. To make sure that what you value the most gets done it’s important not only to set clear goals but to strategically pick the goals that you want to accomplish and create a plan to accomplish them.

Have you seen the show Hoarders, Buried Alive? Many people are entranced by it. It’s reminds me of when you drive down the road and pass an accident… it’s hard to turn away. I’ve heard people say that they are amazed at how “those people” live. Can’t “they” understand the difference between what’s junk and what’s not? How can “they” save all that stuff? What were “they” thinking as they accumulated all of it? Did “they” really think they would use it? How can “they” live that way? Don’t “they” know when enough’s enough?
