When the psychological energy elements are in the helter-skelter form, they lack the synergistic effect. Healthy mental transformation can take place with synergism. Our noisy mental state, lacking polarization, fritters away the energy.
Let us consider an iron piece before and after magnetization. In the non-magnet, the internal elements (which are tiny magnets) are thrown helter-skelter with regard to their north-south polarity. The result is that opposite poles are randomly arranged and so they cancel each other; the net magnetic effect is zero. During magnetization, those elements are aligned by the magnetizing force such that their directions are polarized. Here the small internal magnetized elements are aligned and at the ends of the bar there is the concentration of the same polarity. That is how the bar becomes a magnet with pronounced opposite poles at the ends.
The analogy here is that our mental elements are also, in general, aligned in a haphazard manner. When polarized, they function in a synergistic way and make the mind respond with some orderliness. Waste of mental energy is avoided. With deep interest in self-awareness, polarization takes place in our minds and, to that extent, we feel peaceful. Increased mental orderliness ushers in confidence. Such unhealthy habits as smoking, drinking etc do not bother those in whom there is polarization. Addictions cannot enslave such a mind. One keeps clear of the negative things without any effort.
The un-polarized mind hits physical health too. Correspondingly, when mental energies are polarized, bodily illness becomes rare. This is one area where effects are seen fairly early in one’s esoteric involvement.
Mental polarization is followed by convergence of the energies towards the Inner Being. This situation augments mental relaxation. The state of mind becomes conducive to discovering what lies beyond the apparent. Vibrancy resulting from the convergence adds a spiritual quality to our daily lives. This is how we discover what Natural Spirituality is. It is not affiliated to any religious or meditative system. It is a trail each one strikes for oneself. The newness of it keeps the mind free from being taken over by propaganda. A natural austerity sets in bringing inner and outer orderliness in one's life. Compassion begins to permeate one's psychology. Inner integration leads to dissolution of mental conflicts. One understands the purity of aloneness. Restful sleep follows.
People may like to ask, "Tell us how to polarize." This is where we must bear in mind that effort cannot bring about polarization. Paradoxically, the effort to apply a technique for polarization itself functions as one of the frittering-away forces! DOs and DON'Ts cannot help. When we see the futility of all those, the stress on us becomes abated and we feel restful. We understand that the self-imposed burden to get somewhere is at the base of most mental disturbance. This causes our awareness to turn inward and that will do all the things necessary for the polarization. It is a natural consequence to understanding how we function as our own obstacle! The mind remains quiet. Being an affectionate bystander to oneself is the polarizing force here. It is not easy, but sustained interest in that direction moves one gradually to quiet waters, like the imperceptible turning of a huge ship. Once we sense how the inward non-action helps, we move into a calm relationship with life that is irreversible. Our confidence increases and, with it, our empathy.
The passivity implied in the above paragraph can be understood by listening to the messages of Near Death Experiences. It is also clear from the talks of Enlightened Masters such as those of Ramana Maharishi and J. Krishnamurti.

BeSimply…Autumn Skye Morrison
“She” arrived at a small boutique in the lower Gibson’s, located on the Sunshine Coast in British Columbia. It was a cool and crisp evening and the sun was beginning to set. The store, Costal Creativity, welcomed “She” and “He” in and presented itself as a playful stage for the creations of local artists. As “She” entered, a large tree like structure filled with these expressive hats captured her attention. The variety of textures and colors created a canopy of fanciful head adornments. “She” intently studied each hat, wondering which one would come home with her someday.r
