Recognizing Your Spiritual Experiences, Part One

By Sandy Paris Keynote Speaker and Author of the Dream Reality Book series.

All life has a direct link with the Creator. This reality being true, demonstrates how very unique, special, and fortunate we all are. Life exists because God loves you and all life. Yes, Holy Spirit is at work in our everyday lives offering us divine love, guidance and protection. The question is, are we awake enough to recognize and accept these very special gifts? If we utilize these gifts, our life could be much happier, simpler, and easier.

Quote:
“Men are made for happiness, andnanyone who is completely happy hasna right to say to himself: “I am doing
God’s will on earth.”
Anton Chekhov

Story:
Recognizing a Past Life Experience

About thirty-six years ago, I began to observe more closely the spiritual connection with my everyday events. Too many things were happening to be coincidences. My spiritual journey led to the discovery of past lives. These are one of our gifts from Holy Spirit to help us understand why certain things frighten us, make us like or dislike certain people, things, or places. We may even have talents in this life that we cultivated in a past life. This would explain a genius like Mozart.

As I began to accept the possibility of reinca
ation, I came to understand that it was not that I did not believe in reinca
ation. I just didn’t have any personal experience of knowingness that proved its reality.

Then one night, I had a vivid past life dream that proved its validity to me.

In the dream, I was sitting in a living room lit by a cozy fireplace. The fire was crackling. The bright, golden embers and flames lit the room with a beautiful softness that warmed the heart. The mood was relaxed, calm, and comfortable.

In a rocking chair by the fireplace sat a woman I had known for a long time. Her sweet, gentle presence was very peaceful.

I was sitting in a soft, overstuffed chair with an ottoman facing the fireplace and the woman. We were chatting and enjoying the mood of the quiet, comfortable surroundings. All of a sudden, a crashing sound came from the kitchen. Someone had broken through the kitchen door.

Startled from our comfortable environment, we looked up to see a man standing in the doorway of the living room with a rifle in his hands. In a burst of anger, he shouted, “In the name of the cause.” He lifted the gun and shot my friend.

I immediately fell to the floor. I lay between the ottoman and the chair, listening to his footsteps coming toward me. As the man approached and aimed the gun at my head, the only fear I had was the anticipation of the sound of the gun going off. I buried my head in my arms and cringed. The anticipation was worse than death itself. He pulled the trigger and shot me in the head.

I died.

I woke from the dream completely startled, sweating and terrified. My whole body was trembling.

I knew without any doubt that this dream had been a past-life experience. It was so vivid, unlike any other dream I had ever had before.

After this dream, reinca
ation became an experienced reality of knowingness for me. Past lives were no longer a far-fetched belief.

The next day after I had this dream, a friend had invited me to lunch at her home with several others. As I drove to my friend’s home for lunch, my attention kept wandering back to the events of my dream from the previous night. What was the spiritual meaning of the dream and what was it trying to show me? What spiritual wisdom could I gain from the past life dream, to help make this lifetime better?

When I got to my friend’s home, most of the guests had already arrived and were seated around the table. There was a knock on the door, and our host led a man into the dining room.

As I looked into his face, I recognized him as the man who had shot and killed me in the past-life dream from the night before.

I was stunned.

The man sat down in the only available seat at the table, which just happened to be next to me. I consciously detached my emotional reaction. From a Soul, spiritual, viewpoint, I began to explore my physical reactions as if I were watching someone else in a movie. As he began to speak, I listened very intently, trying to learn more about the situation. He was talking about all the hardships he had encountered the last three months. He had lost his job, his wife had divorced him, and he had been robbed and broken his arm. He remarked, “I must have done something awful in a past life”.

As I listened, I began to question my emotional reactions. How did I feel about this man? Was I experiencing fear, anger, or bitte
ess toward him? I watched and listened very carefully, trying to understand my connection with the situation. It was as if I were on the ceiling looking down on the event as an observer, instead of being a participant. From the neutral overview of Soul, I noticed he had softness in his mannerisms and in his voice that he did not have in the other life.

After an in-depth exploration from a spiritual viewpoint, I concluded that I really did not have any negative feelings toward him. On the other hand, I did not feel I needed any further association with him in this lifetime.

By the time lunch was over, I had attained a completely neutral attitude toward the man who had shot me. The fear I had experienced in the dream dissolved into nothingness. There was nothing to forgive because I knew that the slate of past karma was erased for me. I held no ill feelings toward him. My heart only held gratitude for not having to play the same experience over again in this life. What a wonderful opportunity to work off a debt (karma) with another person without having to relive the experience! This was a gift of divine love, guidance, and protection from Holy Spirit.

I felt such a peaceful state of gratitude and freedom in my heart that there were no words to describe it.

By this time, the hostess noticed that I had not uttered a single word throughout the entire lunch. After everyone left, my friend looked at me and said, “So what was going on with you?” I must have looked like I had seen a ghost. I just said I had had a disturbing dream the night before and I was trying to figure out what it meant. It would have been a violation of the man’s space to have shared this experience with her at that time. The law of silence allowed the gift to reach maturity without continuing karma with the other person. Knowing the Past Can Help Us Handle the Present

The dream put together a few pieces of the puzzle for me. In this lifetime, ever since I was a child, I could not stand to be around the loud sounds of guns, fireworks, or any other loud banging sounds. My father would take me hunting, and no matter how hard I held my hands over my ears, it just never seemed to drown out the fear and anticipation of the sound of the gun going off. I would do everything to avoid it, and I still do to this day. Now, however, I know the reason why.

The only times I ever get glimpses of past-life experiences are to help me with present situations. I have never had a desire to know about all the kind and cruel lives that I have spent in my journey to learn more about spiritual divine love. I do know I have more compassion for others trying to weave their way through the illusions of the physical world. They are in search of spiritual reality and truth, as I am every second of every day in my own life.
