For this week's Monday Morning Mini-Motivation Meetings, I chose the topic "Spontaneity and Trusting Your Instincts." To walk the talk, I did not plan an agenda, but trusted the likelihood that interesting things to say about planning, spontaneity and trusting your instincts would arise.
Such as:
a) Planning and preparation is important and provides confidence in business. It's always preferred to "winging it."
b) Sometimes being ready for surprises and spontaneity also gives you confidence to handle anything that comes up.
c) Trusting your instincts and being open to spontaneity requires excellent self-care and organization. If you haven't treated your body, your mind and your environment with integrity, it's harder to have a calm, confident feeling that allows for your intuition and instincts to be clear.
d) There is a good amount of planning necessary for spontaneity to be totally free. You won't have access to your "belly brain" if you know in your gut you are overlooking other priorities. If you have been falling behind, it's harder to just "blow off" an afte oon to go be with your kids or play an extra 9 holes of golf. If you've gotten ahead, the spontaneous opportunities are just richer and freer.
e) Trusting your instincts is a practice that gets better with time. Keep practicing!
