This month we’re going to take a good look at the Vibrantly Live principle of self-care. Specifically, I want to focus on something we use constantly, and say we never have enough of – ENERGY! I’m going to be discussing 4 different types this month; your physical, emotional, spiritual and mental energy. All are important. All require nurturing in a different way. Yes, you’re busy, but are you being effective? That’s the bigger question.

Today, I’d like to begin by looking at your physical energy. What is that exactly? Well, it has to do with your body. How much get up and go do ya have? Now, stop rolling your eyes! I saw that! Sure, we envy the boundless energy our kids seem to have, but the bone tired exhaustion you experience day in and day out isn’t what we’re shooting for either.

We’re all about finding balance here at Vibrantly Live. So where’s the balance when it comes to your physical energy. Well, let’s go back to the basics that pretty much all of us already know…

Get some sleep – Burning the candle at both ends is not a part of a healthy take care of you regimen. That “one more thing” you think must be done before you go to bed, will only get you puffy eyes and a sluggish brain tomorrow. Think about it. If you got 7-8 hours of sleep, you could think more clearly and would work more efficiently – thus – getting more things done.

Eat & drink right – Nothing new here when it comes to how to take care of you. You’ve heard this thousands of times, right? But what’s stopping you from doing it? Is it that you don’t like the taste of water? You don’t have enough time to cook healthy meals? Your kids are picky eaters? Trust me; I’ve heard every excuse in the book! But again, it comes down to quality of life. Do you want to enjoy your life and get the most out of it, by having the energy to live all out, or do you want to continue running on fumes from the disregard you’re showing your body?

Get moving! – You knew this was coming, didn’t you? Yes, I DID pull the old exercise card. I know, I know – I sound like your doctor now. But c’mon…We both know you feel better when you get moving. Now, trust me, I know life’s busy. I’m not saying you’ve got to run out and get a gym membership you use 3 times a week for at least an hour a pop! No way! But are you doing something??? No, driving the car does NOT count. The more you move the more energy you’ll have. It’s time to start getting a little creative in this area, rather than continuing to use the old standby “I don’t have time for that.”

Have I shared anything dramatically new today? No! This is all stuff we know, but choose to live believing we’ll “get around to it”. But what if you don’t? What if you continue to put yourself and your needs last? What if, in neglecting your body, you get sick? All of us know that’s a possibility, but we choose to live in denial; that we can just keep neglecting our bodies and they’ll hang in there. Getting sick may or not be a long way off, but take a sec and ask yourself if you’re feeling exhausted. That’s NOT normal – even for a busy working mom!!!

Here’s your Vibrantly Live Challenge: Choose just 1 area I shared with you today and make a decision to begin to take care of you. Out of that decision, come up with your plan of action. If you’re not sure what to do, ask someone you trust. And then, by all means find a way to be accountable. That’s a huge element of why coaching is so helpful. We are creatures of habit. Without accountability, we go right back to the bad habits we’re trying to fix! Be sure to share your thoughts below. Until next time – get out there and vibrantly live! Bye!
