Understanding the roles of the intellect and of the intuition in our living can go a long way along the journey towards the truth and the associated inner peace. In the absence of this movement, slavery to belief systems will become inevitable. The intellect and the intuition in us have somewhat different roles to play in helping us move towards a holistic life. The associated perception takes us to the deeper being in us helping us lead our lives intelligently.

We are guided by the verbalized approach to the sensing of various issues in our life. This is also the region where the intellect plays a significant role. Storing the information in its verbal form helps several issues such as referencing and correlating, logical analysis, communication etc. Our habitual mental approach is to rely heavily on this verbalized contact with life. Beyond a point, this becomes a bane because it obstructs, by the screen of words, the direct sensing of what there is actually. There is a kind of distortion in the process. While we see the need for verbalization with regard to practical living, we recognize its negative spin off because of the verbal screen. People who wish to discover what lies beyond the ordinary would be particularly wary of this unfortunate situation.

Whenever there is a psychological problem, the tendency for the mind is to take recourse to a verbalized analysis of the situation. This is inevitable. However, if we can apply ourselves to it to the extent necessary and then leave it alone, the intuition is given a chance to light the way that is healthy in all aspects. We can say that the intellect serves as a gate way to the beyond where the non-verbal approach can function and release us from all stress. Just as a doorway is necessary to enter the house, the intellect is necessary to take us to the deeper region and hand us over to the zone where intuition can take charge. Once we understand this process, we feel peaceful because of the confidence gained in letting the intellect and the intuition play their respective roles. People who go through a near death experience sense the value of intuition beyond the conventional understanding and this helps them have a laid-back attitude in life.

Sensing the truth of what lies beyond the apparent requires patient awareness in which both the intellect and the intuition play their roles. When we give the intuition a chance, it has the capacity to make us see beyond words and sense the truth of the matter directly. The proof of the truth has to come from inside one and not merely through the logical mind. Reinca
ation, for example, is such an esoteric realm that requires a sustained and open minded investigation allowing the intuition to play its part. The eage
ess to find the truth and a sufficiently long association with the topic are necessary for the intuition to come into play. When the proof comes from inside us, it is unassailable. So long as people are looking for proofs from outside, such proofs can always be thwarted by the ‘explaining away’ attitude. We may say: X cannot prove it to Y because the real proof has to come from inside Y.

The advantage of moving into the region of intuition is that in that area the mind is silent. The mind’s usual noise in the intellectual region is responsible for many ills and unhappy trends in life. Silence of the mind has many healthy contributions to make for happy life on this planet. As of now, not many are looking in that direction and that is the major reason why so many inhuman activities are going on in the world now. As of now, religious systems too rely heavily on the intellect and not on the intuitive journey into oneself. People who see the need for inner developments in themselves and in others can help bring about a transformed world. “She” arrived at a small boutique in the lower Gibson’s, located on the Sunshine Coast in British Columbia. It was a cool and crisp evening and the sun was beginning to set. The store, Costal Creativity, welcomed “She” and “He” in and presented itself as a playful stage for the creations of local artists. As “She” entered, a large tree like structure filled with these expressive hats captured her attention. The variety of textures and colors created a canopy of fanciful head adornments. “She” intently studied each hat, wondering which one would come home with her someday.r
