THE MAGIC OF THINKING BIG by David Schwartz (PART ONE)

Submitter's Note:
This article (in point form), extracted from a chapter from my manuscript 'Steps to Success, Prosperity and Happiness' written many years ago is based on an excellent motivational, up-lifting and inspiring book 'THE MAGIC OF THINKING BIG' by David Schwartz I am sharing my summary of some of the contents of this excellent work (what I consider to be the main points) in the spirit of encouraging and hopefully even inspiring those people, who really want to achieve their fullest potentials to read the book...and THINK BIG in your life (ALL areas), then watch what happens.

*
This thought-provoking and uplifting book reveals:

* How to set your goals high ...and then exceed them!

* Discovering the secrets of how your mind works and how to make it work best for you.

* How to launch yourself to success by using fully the amazing power of the human mind.

* How to stand head and shoulders above the others in the crowd (if that's what you really want).

INTRODUCTION:

Success is such a personal thing meaning different things to every one of us. And financial success is only one aspect of success. However, I maintain that financial success is freedom from worry and having CHOICES: to spend your life (= time) or money, whichever way you want. Here are a few more thoughts on success...

Don't wish success. Wishing only will not get you there. Really BELIEVE you can succeed and with a sound plan of ACTION you WILL. We all have some desire and natural intelligence - every single one of us. It's how we channel these qualities that determines how successful we will be - the direction we choose. Remember most humans use less than ten percent of their brain capacity. Achievement and experiences are the goal of life. Any experience is a success; so just GO FOR IT... and EXPECT success (positive and fruitful outcomes) in your endeavours.

Think "big" and you live "BIG" ...in all areas of your life. You will then live big in happiness, accomplishment, income, friends and respect. All of these are important; but perhaps self respect is most of all. Believe you are worth little and you receive little. BELIEVE you can't do things and you WILL NOT be able to do them.

I think the single most important ingredient to success is BELIEF: in oneself. That, together with strong desire is the well-spring for all achievement. Belief keeps us going when everything else points against success. It is the "thermostat", that regulates what we accomplish in life. If we believe strongly in what we are doing, the chances of success are greatly magnified.

Always be on the look out for opportunities. Remember every problem is an opportunity waiting to be discovered. Then convert opportunities into points/rewards. (Even the trauma of a life crisis once overcome can open up wonderful new opportunities to try something new in your life).

Also don't forget about the unlimited power of the creative subconscious. So harness the power of your belief (which comes from the amazing powers of the human mind)...and make it work for YOU. .
*

HOW TO DEVELOP THE POWER OF BELIEF?

Do what you love, because that's what we do best. Love is the key word. Then you will love what you do (and I love writing). Also think success at every opportunity. Don't think purely of the monetary rewards (or the fortune you will undoubtedly make); because that will come when you are doing what you love doing. Try to be of value to others. Have a win/win attitude, where every body gains from your endeavours. Believe implicitly in yourself and in your ultimate goals, no matter how long and winding the road ahead ("it took me twenty long hard years to become an ove
ight success" - anon). On the way you'll have to overcome many setbacks. It's a long long road to hoe with many obstacles along the way...but it'll be well worth it in the end.

* *
Summary:

1. Set a PLAN for your own self development and personal growth.
I believe that success is very much a matter of personal development, growing daily.

2. Cure yourself of EXCUSITIS. Don't make excuses: eg. the economy, the weather, your finances and especially the government. Avoid saying "I'll do it after the election, after I've seen the way things go". Accept RESPONSIBILITY for yourself at all times. At least TRY.

N.B: Always be aware: Responsibility is not blame.
Don't procrastinate...stickability is 95% of the art in getting there in the end. It is not only ability that counts. It boils down to our ATTITUDE and PERSISTENCE.

Remember what British Prime Minister Benjamin Disraeli said:

"Life is too short to be little."

YOU ARE BIGGER THAN YOU THINK.

And most importantly,

BE HAPPY enjoying the jou
ey rather than thinking purely of the destination

"Every man has his own destiny; the only imperative is to follow rnit, no matter where it leads him."
- Henry Miller

P.S: Thank you sincerely, David for sharing your insight, words rnof wisdom and especially inspiration in encouraging me to "think big" in all areas of my life ("crazy, foolish man!").

" I truly believe we can ALL create and enthuse magic intorn'so-called humdrum little lives'. You don't just have to bernthe choreorapher, or the conductor of your life script -rather paint your life as the masterpiece it could (one day)
be. There is a rich tapestry of talent in every human soul,
that flows through the spirit of God. So don't spend your
days stringing and tuning your instrument; start making and
playing your unique tunes of music right now." - craig

"Success to others may be apparent in what you DO; but
significance, meaning and purpose lies, then reveals itself
in what you ARE and BECOME down the 'river of life' - how
and the spirit with which you face, then overcome the daily
obstacles, the frequent trials and tribulations along the
often rocky path-way of life's magical and mysterious
journey. Light your path brightly."

"Do not follow the well-beaten track of others towards success -like the rainbow, it is often an illusion always just beyond
our reach. Make your own path and let your spirit blaze arnbrilliant trail towards the pot of gold, the prize for the
gift - one that is uniquely you and YOUR successful jou
eyrndown the mysterious and magical river of life."
"The task ahead of you can always be overcome by the power within you...and the seemingly difficult path ahead of you is never as steep with the great spirit that lies within you."

"When I let go of what (and who) I think I am, I become all that I can be... and am capable of being." - craig (as adapted and inspired from Lao Tzu)
Together, one mind, one life at a time, let's see how many people we can impact, empower, uplift, encourage ... and perhaps even inspire to reach their fullest potentials."
