""You do not get paid for what you are going to do! But you are always paid for what you have, or have not, done!"
This is the one thing that you must understand. Your rewards in life are always in direct relationship to your contribution to life. This you must also be aware of, there will always be a payment. Sometimes that payment might be something that you really don't want but it will always be in direct relationship with your contribution to life.
To make your life easier realise that what is done is done, but that which is not done must be added to what must be done tomorrow. How often do you hear people complain about how rushed life is, that they just can't cope with everything that must be done. They are so busy being busy that they have no time to live.
Evaluate your life. Look at all the things that you are busy with. How many of the things that you regularly do are really important? What would happen if you no longer did them? How many really important things do you put off doing, "Oh, I'll do it one day"? The quality of your life is not determined by how busy you have been but by what you have achieved.
How many good ideas have you had? What ever happened to them? How many opportunities have you let slip, because "the time isn't right"? Rather than looking for excuses not to do something, look for reasons why you should do it.
That's just like losing weight. One day I heard of a great diet, it sounded so easy I decided to start the next week. All I lost was seven days.
Remember that your life is today. Today is yesterday's tomorrow and tomorrow's yesterday. Your past comes from today. Your future depends on today. The crop that you are harvesting today is the result of the seeds you planted yesterday. The crop that you will harvest tomorrow depends on what you plant today.
Question all your actions today. What will the long term effect be of what I do now? How will my life and the lives of others be affected? Will I look back with pride on what I am doing? Will I be happy that I have done it?
Question all the things that you put off doing today, the things that you will do tomorrow. What will happen if you don't ever do it? Who is affected by your decision not to do it now? Is the effect positive or negative?
Remember that you cannot get yesterday back, nor can you catch up to tomorrow. You have just today to live your life. Out of today you must make your life. Your memories and your dreams are created by your actions of today, but this you must accept "You do not get paid for what you are going to do! But you are always paid for what you have, or have not, done!"
