I have spent over eleven years researching and implementing the use of holistic nutrition and behavioral therapy to help children struggling with autism spectrum disorders, ADD/ADHD and SPD (as well as the many other labels children get these days!) My educational and professional backgrounds, in addition to my personal experience,
enable me to help families look beyond the disability to bring out their child’s full potential naturally.


When my oldest child was diagnosed as gifted with problems in the autism spectrum, sensory processing disorder (SPD), ODD and ADHD, I sought solutions. With a B.S. in Biology, specifically Human Anatomy and Physiology, I keenly understand the body. I even worked as a surgical assistant during my university studies. So my interest in natural and alte ative approaches is firmly grounded in knowledge of traditional medicine.

I am also an expert in child development and learning. I minored in child psychology in college, pursuing teacher training in my final year. I created, developed and taught courses in Biology, Physics and Chemistry for an Upward Bound university level summer program for high school students.

While pregnant with our first child, we made the life-changing decision to move to Austria, my husband’s home. I have since focused on raising my children, which has been uniquely challenging with our son’s special needs.

Originally from Texas, I still live in Austria with my husband and four children, aged 4 to 12. I always knew I wanted to have a large family of my own and work with children in some aspect.

I am by no means the perfect mother, but I simply do what I can to find ways to help my children and improve our family life. I am now turning my focus to help other families break free from the pain and suffering that special needs can bring into their lives.

School lunches can be overwhelming and difficult if you are new to the dietary changes that help ADHD and Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD). It’s not just about rethinking the standard lunch with GFCF, additive-free, allergen-free food. It’s also about providing a lunch your child will enjoy! You will most likely not have anything available for your child from the school lunch menu. It’s good to make connections with the cafeteria staff and find out what items can be purchased, if any at all. With the poor quality of foods in our schools, this is not necessarily a bad thing!

Studies have shown that pesticides contribute to ADHD, even at low levels of exposure. The organophosphate chemicals (the pesticides studied) are known to cause damage to the nerve connections in the brain – that’s how they work on the pests they prevent! In fact, the dysfunction of a specific neurotransmitter, acetylcholinesterase, has been implicated in ADHD, which just happens to be the same neurotransmitter that these pesticides disrupt!

When you have a child with autism or ADHD and you choose to implement dietary changes, the question becomes – do we all do it or just the one child? I’ll discuss this in reference to GFCF (gluten free, dairy – casein free), but it could also be broadened to any dietary changes you wish to make. Even as grown adults with never ending responsibilities, being a parent means that we get to relax and slow down life a bit because it’s summer. There is no school schedule or stress and daily struggle over homework or school projects. I feel like it’s a chance for the kids to just be kids and time for me to just be mom – not school enforcer!
