Stuck in Grief - You and Your loved one who passed over.
Grief is yours to own, and no one will ever expect you to forget your grief. Grief cannot just be cured or dismissed, as the hurt surrounding grief is there because of your connection with the loved one you lost. Grief can keep time standing still, and it is very common for people to not want to move through life anymore. Grief can make us want to remain close to the point in time of the grief, through maintaining the same surroundings, locations, routines and rituals.
When Faith Seems So Far Away
Recently, I was asked to minister on Faith at the Women’s Ministry at my church. When I began to prepare my notes, I started brainstorming on what personal testimonies I wanted to share that would go in-line with the topic. Two years ago, I would have been shy at the thought of sharing personal stories. But knowing who I am today, I can freely speak on matters that were hurtful, confusing, and degrading without getting upset. Many years ago, I was unable to think let alone speak on many things from my past because of the emotional distress that it caused.

The Voice from Within
A voice within......we all have one - we just need to listen. It's a parents dream to be a witness to their child's first words. There was a time when it was easy to speak my little words of expression from that point in my life and receive a smile from my mother. But, as time went on my words became of little interest. My words needed to project my mothers thoughts, attitude and actions for if they didn't, I was punished mentally, physically - anyway to instill "she" was authority.

I am a believe who struggled with co-dependency and alcohol. The first time I was exposed to the Twelve Steps, it was in Alcoholics Anonymous and they gave me sobriety from alcohol. I was on the 4th step working this program, when my sponsor sent me to Adult Children of Alcoholics (ACA), and Co-dependents Anonymous (Coda) to find myself and identify where the pain in my life was coming from. In other words, my sponsor recognized her limitations and I recognized her frustrations in working with me. The last thing my sponsor told me to do was to go to my chemically dependent meetings daily.
