In modern times cancer is the biggest epidemic and the sheer number of people suffering and losing their lives from cancer is staggering. Throughout the past couple of decades a lot of energy and money has been spent in cancer research. As a result of all this research we have slowly started to understand the nature of the disease. Even though many painful treatment processes have already been discovered but these treatment processes such as chemotherapy leaves a person drained. Prevention is better than cure and this can’t be truer for anything other than cancer. As our understanding of the disease gets better we learn of the preventive measures that can save us from this life threatening epidemic. The most basic thing we can do to save ourselves from the pain and suffering of cancer is to change our food habit a little and add the things that prevent cancer to the list and deduct the things that increase the chance of cancer. In this article we have focused on the first part, that is which food items we should eat to lower the chances of cancer.
Vitamin C is an essential vitamin that is necessary for many body functions and plenty of Vitamin C can help you fight cancer by preventing the formation of cancer causing nitrogen compounds. Vitamin C rich diet can reduce the chances of many forms of cancer such as stomach, colon, bladder and cervix cancer. Many fruits contain substantial amounts of Vitamin C such as oranges, grapefruits, bell peppers and etc. However, the Vitamin C supplements available in the market do not work as well. So make sure you have lots of fruits and veggies on your menu.
Vitamin E rich food reduces the risk of many kinds of cancer such as stomach, colon, lung, liver and other cancers. Even though many people just go for vitami
E supplements but research has shown that these supplements have little or no effect. Add vitami
E rich food items in your menu such as Peanut and Peanut butter, Almond and almond butter, sunflower seeds and etc. Vitamin E helps keep your cells defense systems up. So, make sure you have lots of vitamin rich food items in your menu.
Through years of research we have understood the relation between diet and cancer and researchers have found that different kind of berries have proven to be a super effective diet that helps fight cancer. Different kinds of berries such as raspberries, blueberries and cranberries have been proven ass effective against cancer.
Research has shown that people who eat a beta-carotene and fiber rich diet has a very low chance of having cancer, particularly lung, colon and stomach cancer. Sweet potato contains a lot of beta-carotene, vitami
C and fibers. So, make sure you add sweet potato to your diet on a regular basis.

Omega-3 fatty acids have been proven to have huge positive health benefits. It helps prevent inflammation and in turn helps prevent cancer. It is highly recommended adding omega-3 rich food items in your daily diet such shellfish. You can also try adding ground flaxseed into your yogurt or smoothies as ground flaxseed contains a lot of omega-3 fatty acid.
The active ingredient in turmeric is Curcumin which functions both as an anti-inflammatory agent and an antioxidant. So, in turn turmeric helps prevent cancer. Curry powder has sufficient turmeric in it and you can try using it.
Tea, specifically green tea has been proven to fight different forms of cancer such as stomach, colon, breast, prostate and lung cancers.
Pomegranates contain ellagic acid which is proven to fight cancer. So make sure you have pomegranate at least once.
The last but not the least is the fact that you need to have lots of cruciferous vegetables such as broccoli, cauliflower and cabbage as it is conclusively proven to detoxifies the body and helps fight cancer.
