Why does my baby not sleep well? Babies can not fall asleep or wake up at night for one simple reason, do not feel comfortable. The discomfort that a baby can experience at night due to multiple factors, including the place where you are, your clothes , teething , etc ... For your baby to sleep well, you should make sure that none of these factors is disturbing. Then explain each one of them. 1. The Cradle It is possible that the baby does not feel comfortable in their crib. Some babies move much while sleeping and hit against the edge of the crib and it awakens, which will make your baby not sleep well. In these cases make sure that your mattress is not too soft and if this is the case change it to a harder one. 2. Heat You can tell if the baby is hot as them face and neck may be red. To check this put your hands on them chest. The baby has to feel a bit warm, not hot or sticky. If the baby is too hot, remove them duvet. 3. Cold You must ensure that there are no drafts in the house and less on your room, especially during the winter, as it awakens. Always make sure they are well covered, although in many cases to prevent them from taking cold, shelters them too and this also helps the baby feel uncomfortable. If, for example, the baby does not like being covered with a blanket or sheet, do not insist on doing so, it is preferable that will protect your clothing directly cooling. If, however, it can be covered, not seen as if he were sleeping without blankets. Also remember that if your baby has cold hands and feet does not mean that it is "frozen." Always check the temperature with your hand on it's chest. 4. Noises Sudden or constant noises can be the causes that disturb the sleep of your baby. The motors of refrigerators, washing machine noise or elevator and appliances are the most frequent. In these cases the schedule is to adapt the operation of appliances to baby sleep or think about moving it. It is also important that your room is not turned on a television by the shrillness of sound and light emitted, which can also disrupt them sleep. 5. Light Light can be a problem for babies who wake up early or who have trouble sleeping. The glow of dawn, the street lights or the TV are the most frequent causes. To solve the problem you can put curtains that don't allow light to pass through at all or move the baby elsewhere with less light shining through. 6. Darkness Instead of light, many babies who are uncomfortable in the dark and wake up at night do not feeling safe because they don't know where they are. In these cases you can use a soft light, such as those sold commercially for this purpose, and placed into a socket in the room. Another good idea is to leave a light on outside the room, leave the door half open for the light to come in smoothly. 7. Clothing The baby should always be dressed comfortably and for it to provide adequate shelter. Labels, synthetic materials, seams and tight stockings can cause discomfort keep them from sleeping properly. You should check them skin does not have red marks from the friction of their clothes and that their clothes size is adequate. Remember that babies grow quickly and the clothes are going to be outgrown. If clothing has labels that rub against thier skin quítaselas, especially in the area around thier neck. 8. Diapers Wet diapers are the most common cause of disturbing the sleep of the baby that really bothers. In these cases it goes without saying that you should change it because your touch also help them sleep. You should also check that your baby does not have the tail chapped. In these cases they will feel uncomfortable, even if you changed it. 10. Teething The pain and discomfort it causes the teeth can disrupt a sleeping baby. In general, babies cut their first tooth at 6 months . If this is your case, you can ease their discomfort by giving soft plastic teething rings, cooled in the refrigerator, or use any analgesic to recommend a pediatrician or cold teething gel that adheres to the gums resulting in immediate relief. 11. Hunger Younger babies need to eat frequently and hunger is another factor that can wake the baby. In these cases you should breastfeed or bottle, making sure the latter do not swallow air. 12. Cramps and flatulence The cramping and flatulence usually appear after feeding, preventing sleep. It is therefore important that the last of the night is sucking away at least one hour of regular time when you sleep. It is also advisable to burp the baby, placing a tummy on your shoulder and patting his back gently with your hand. 13. Diseases A sick baby can not sleep because it's not feeling well. Since your baby can not tell who is sick, you should be alert to symptoms such as vomiting , diarrhea , skin rashes and fever, among others. Sometimes the symptoms are not visible, as in the case of otitis , where perhaps the baby calms down when you wake up, because being upright the pain subsides. In all cases you should consult your doctor. 14. Insect bites Very often the bite of mosquitoes on the baby's delicate skin, especially during the summer. Adults know what is the buzz of a mosquito in your ear at night ... Therefore we recommend that you in summer times use a mosquito net to cover his crib because the baby can not defend such a hassle and this way you can sleep peacefully.
