In today's food market, the big food corporations are always coming out with new products to pitch to the consumer to make themselves more money. There's been the 'fat-free' fad, and more prevalent then ever is the artificial sweeteners debacle. These companies say that these chemical sweeteners are harmless (even though they cause cancer in lab animals) and contain 0 calories, so eat or drink as much as you like! The problem is that these chemicals are not natural and are harmful to the body. I've heard of dangerous side effects such as cancer, headaches, additional sugar cravings, developmental problems in kids and unbo children just from eating foods with these chemicals in them. What makes matters even worse is that they still spike your blood sugar and increase your insulin levels, which will promote fat storage in your body. And if they increase your cravings for junk food, you'll eat more calories than you normally would anyway, which defeats the whole point! But just eating normal sugar isn't necessarily the answer. If you have the choice between the two, definitely go for the sugar. However, there are two types of sweeteners that are great for sweeteners and are actually healthy for you! These are raw honey, and stevia. Raw honey is filled with antioxidants and is great for sweetening oatmeal, teas, or other foods that need a little sweet boost. Don't give it to babies though, since it may contain a bacteria that their little bodies can't fight off. Stevia is a completely naturally occuring plant product that is a great natural sweetener for coffee and the like. However, if you like things really sweet don't get too carried away. Putting too much stevia in a food will make it taste a little bitter. So use stevia in moderation. For more tips on eating healthy and shedding body fat, grab my 7-day Six Pack Abs mini-course. When I listen to a speaker, even if I get just one or two things from them, it’s a success. I don’t expect you to do everything I say, just take the things that work for you. Take a few nuggets and apply them to your life and you’ll start seeing dramatic results. Now the name of this article is Pleasure vs. Pain. If you think about it, there are really only two reasons why we do anything, either it is pleasurable or it is painful. If things cause pleasure, that’s what we tend to move toward. If it causes pain, we move away from it.
