Hats off to James Allen.

In his book “As a Man Thinketh,” Allen wrote a phrase that I consider to be the grounding principle for anyone who wants to transform his reality and achieve great success.

Here is what he said:

"A man can only rise, conquer, and achieve by lifting up his thoughts. He can only remain weak, abject, and miserable by refusing to lift up his thoughts."

That principle is what he calls the “Thought Factor” in achievement.

The fact is, your thoughts must match the level of achievement you want to reach. For example, if your goal is to earn one million dollars, then you have to lift up your thoughts and think like a millionaire. If you want to be a CEO, you must think like a CEO.

The quality of your thoughts defines the level of achievement you can reach. Therefore, you need to be carefully observing your thoughts. If you feel stuck in place and unable to rise to a better situation, then you must immediately fix your thought pattern. Look for ways to lift up your thoughts to match the heights you wish to reach.

Here are 3 proven ways to lift up your thoughts:

1. Success Leaves Clues

The easiest way to become successful is to find someone who is already successful and follow in his footsteps. Search for the common threads that unite successful people. If you simply follow the clues they’ve left behind on their paths to success, you'll reach the same level of success they've reached – maybe even greater because you’ll be able to sidestep all the mistakes they made.

2. Ideas Are Power

The more ideas you are exposed to, the more you will grow and expand your mind. One idea can change your life forever. One idea can hold the solution to all the challenges and obstacles you face. One idea can literally transform your life ove
ight. So the bottom line is to keep an open mind, learn as much as you can, and never stop that learning process.

3. Take Advice From the Best

In order to perform at your peak level, you must learn from the most successful people. Listen to what they have to say, read every word they write, and watch exactly what they do. I always advise people to steer clear of advice from people who are not successful or have reached only a low level of success. You need to listen to the best – those people who have already reached the level of success you dream about!

"All achievements, whether in the business, intellectual, or spiritual world, are the result of definitely directed thought." - James Alle

Your thoughts must be the first thing to change when you want to improve your life and transform your reality. Great achievements follow great thoughts – not the other way around.

Search for success clues, soak up powerful ideas like a sponge, and learn from the best successful people who have already reached your dream.

Think about the quality of your thoughts. How do you rate them on a scale from 1 to 10? Now, starting today, ask yourself what you can do to go up just one point on that scale.

My business gives me the opportunity to work with many wonderful people as a client and as a supplier of services. Some time back however, I found myself doubting. I have been doubting other people and their integrity. I found myself in the position where I was filtering all my interactions through the polarising lens of a few souring experiences. In this space and sense of doubting others I had felt unable to create words or metaphors which could possibly be of service to you. So what changed? Frankly, Brett Godfrey did.

In the last week I have worked with 2 different people who are struggling to get their message across. They each have an idea and are being blocked by another persons’ apparent stubbornness. In each case when they analysed what was happening they discovered that the other person was not in fact being stubborn, but they were reacting emotionally to an inexpertly delivered message. What to do if you are being blocked.

We cover the topic of Locus of Control in our Leadership programs, so it is 2nd nature for me to take full ownership for whatever outcomes I am creating in my life. After all why teach it if I am not living it? REcently I have had some events seemingly “happen to me” which rocked my belief in my own control over the results I get. Before I get on with that part of the story a short discussion on what exactly is Locus of Control and how can we use it…rnr

Several of my coaching clients have requested support with either time management or work life balance When we have a discovery conversation on their challenge there is generally much more to discuss on the topic of insufficient delegation. They're keeping excessive responsibilities, authority and duty to their and their company's detriment. Consequently they under perform at their own level. They hold themselves back or suffer from a lack of balance in their lives with too many hours at work.
