It helps you increase your tolerance for accepting those moments of “It is what it is”. Let’s face it, in life there are the things that we can change and then there are the things that we can’t change at least in this moment. The more you begin to meditate on a daily basis the more you will find yourself being okay with those things that you can’t change and more importantly actually having the strength and energy to change the things that you can because you are no longer wasting your time and energy on things you can’t change.
Benefit of Meditation #2 –
And I wonder if you will be surprised when you begin to notice that the more you practice meditation on a daily basis the higher your threshold for what you can handle emotionally will become. One of the more interesting things about this benefit is oftentimes you notice the increase in threshold by suddenly realizing that you are not reacting to a situation in the disempowering way that you normally would. For instance, at work when your boss hands you a new assignment that you weren’t expecting and really didn’t want rather than going outside and smoking a cigarette to “relax” and then spending the next 20 minutes letting out all of your frustration on the situation and then having to work late because of it. You actually find yourself taking a deep breath in and then getting the assignment done earlier than expected without the smoke break or the 20 minutes (or more) of venting.
Benefit of Meditation #3 –
As stated earlier, when you find yourself being overwhelmed or uneasy we often unconsciously turn to a variety of different disempowering coping mechanisms.
Yet when you begin to practice meditation on a daily basis you will actually begin to find yourself actually utilizing the meditation techniques that you have learned and experienced during those times of overwhelm and unease as well as actually beginning to discover and utilize much more effective and empowering coping techniques that help you.
In the end, because of this you can easily begin to realize now just how empowering and important it is to begin practicing meditation on a daily basis, at least if you want to thrive in this lifetime rather than simply trying to survive.
