Every new year we create lists of resolutions that we wish for ourselves, our families, and our businesses. But somehow, along the way, most of us give up ond begin to beat ourselves up for not accomplishing what we had on our lists.

Here are 4 steps you can take to help create a successful 2010 - without having to create resolutions.

1. Embark on a personal mission of growth. Decide to spend sometime increasing your personal sense of self. What messages we put into our minds impacts ever area of our lives - so feed your brain sucess messages.

Instead of watching tv in the evenings, commit to reading a book dedicated to success or personal growth for 30 minutes a day. Suggested reading: "Think And Grow Rich" by Napoleon Hill or "The Magic of Thinking Big" by Dr. David J. Schwartz"

2. Clear the clutter around your home. As the saying goes: 'Success and mess don't go together'. Take the time to clear clutter from your life. Develop a system to file important papers, go through your closets and donate clothes, organize your office, declutter your home.

3. Remove the energy drainers from your life. We all have things that drain our energy - clutter, negative people, relationships, friendships, even dimly lit rooms.

We may have even gotten so used to the energy drainer, that don't even recognise it as an energy drainer. It's time to clean up the energy around you. Just take a few minutes and reflect upon what it is that you have been tolerating or putting up with and remove it.

4. Surround yourself with people who are where you want to be. This is key in EVERY area of your life. You need to surround yourself with people that are cheering you on and celebrate your every success. These people will spur you to success.

And you need to avoid the people that are tearing you down, telling you that you can't do things, that you shouldn't dream your dreams. Changing your life to have the right people around you isn't easy. But doing this one thing will make an incredible, breathtaking difference in your life.

These 4 steps will make a world of difference in your life. With these beginning foundations in place you will find that the other pieces of your life begin to fall nicely into place.

You will begin to have inspired ideas, new desires, and future steps to take will begin to reveal themselves to you.

Oh, and you will find it easier to create and maintain resolutions (if you choose to make some).
