Ever have a time in your life when you haven’t been taking care of yourself the way you should? During those times did you stop caring about how you dressed? Did you stop hanging out with friends? Did you stop looking in the mirror? Now when you’ve been doing all you can to look your best do you notice the opposite? You look in the mirror, buy nice clothes and reveal a little more of your figure. Women are great at allowing their self-image dictate their level of confidence.
Negativity feeds on itself. When you have a poor self-image you actually send out a poor vibe to the world. Ever notice when you feel great about yourself that people often compliment you and tell you that you look great or you’re glowing? Doesn’t it feel great when people feed you compliments? Doesn’t it motivate you to keep moving forward? So let’s just say that you decided to start taking better care of yourself but you’re not quite where you want to be yet, do you let it get in the way of doing what you want to do? Can you fake it til you make it?
This week’s assignment:
1. Envision how you want to look. Find a picture of how you looked when you felt your best. Carry it around with you or hang it in a place you pass often. Let it be your motivation to keep taking better care of yourself.
2. Dress for success. Don’t dress in clothes that are too big and baggy but wear things that you feel good in and flatter you. Where you are may be temporary but remember that taking pride in how you look is a true self-esteem builder.
3. Have a positive attitude. Set a positive and realistic goal for yourself. Wherever you are right now doesn’t have to be where you are tomorrow. Each day that you live more positively you create more self-confidence and self-esteem. Where you’re working toward is what you should envision will last long term.
4. Just Do It. If you’re going to an event and you know you’re not exactly the size you want to be then don’t be hard on yourself. Just go out and do it, you’ll feel better about yourself for going. So go, enjoy yourself and be proud of yourself for getting out of your comfort zone.
Have you ever let how you feel about yourself get in the way of doing things or going to events?
