In the last one hundred years, science and technology have made a huge difference in our life. But despite having access to thousands of information and knowledge to keep ourselves healthy, we are actually more unhealthy than previous generations.
Why? Because modern western medicine and nutrition is based on a narrow “scientific” model: if you are obese count your calories; if you are sick take your pill and if you need more energy take a supplement. Today's world see the human body as a machine with separate parts that can be treated independently rather than as an integrated whole. In addition the mind and body are also seen as separate independent entities and emotions are often ignored.
So, the following tips will help you create a positive and healthy mindset for effective weight loss:
1. Release emotional toxinsr
Holding onto what I call "emotional discomfort" is the first cause of weight loss struggle. I always ask my clients: "Do you feel comfortable with yourself? If you could rewrite your past, what you would like to change? What do you hate the most about your body?"
Many of us harbor emotional toxicity in the form of unprocessed anger, hurt or disappointment. This unprocessed residue from the past contributes to toxicity in our body and needs to be eliminated. Once you have identified what you want to release, spend some time jou
aling about how your life will be different when you change. Then find an activity that can help you to release these strong emotional blocks. Another great way to release emotional pain is joining in nurturing and supportive environment, such as meditation or yoga classes.
2. Enjoy a good belly-laugh at least once a dayr
From the scientific perspective, laughter is an elegant mind-body phenomenon that reduces the production of stress hormones and boosts the immune system and energy level, diminish pain, lower blood pressure and triggers the release of endorphins. Best of all, this priceless medicine is fun, free, and easy to use.
3. Hack your body during meditationr
A groundbreaking study by Massachusetts General Hospital found that as little as eight weeks of meditation not only helped people feel calmer but also produced changes in various areas of the brain, including growth in the areas associated with memory, empathy, sense of self, and stress regulation. During meditation you have access to the great archive of your brain, where you can retrain it to heal itself, restore mind-body balance and remove old patterns and unhealthy habits that are sabotaging your weight loss efforts.
4. Eat only what your body really need
Here's very simple. Your body knows what good or not good for you. Next to breathing, eating is our most vital bodily function. To create a healthy body and mind, food must be nourishing. Ideal nutrition comes from consuming a variety of foods that are appropriately prepared and eaten with awareness.
5. Have a nice long sleepr
Inadequate sleep disrupts the body’s innate balance, weakens our immune system, contributes to weight gain and depression, and speeds up the aging process. So, 30 minutes before going to sleep turn off your laptop or tv, grab a wonderful book and lie on your comfortable bed. Human beings generally need between six and eight hours of sleep each night. If you feel energetic and vibrant when you wake up, you had a high quality sleep. If you feel tired and unenthusiastic, especially if you used drugs, pills or alcohol to get to sleep, you haven’t had a good sleep.
