Superfoods are all the rage now because they are nutrient-packed foods that benefit your health. Avocado, chia seeds and goji berries are most commonly mentioned in my tribe, but we also enjoy these 5 new superfoods. If you haven’t tried them yet, you but probably should! This is by far the biggest nutritional myth out that I encounter when women first join my free and private community! Superfood #1: Liver Do you discard the organs from your meat? Not so fast! The liver holds onto many key nutrients including Vitamin A, D, E, K and B12, folic acid and minerals such as copper and iron. When consumed, these nutrients get passed on to you. In fact, organ meats have been found to have 10-100 times more nutrients than muscle meats! I have the perfect recipe for you to prepare this powerful superfood for the first time right here with a load of bacon or even this pate recipe. Enjoy! Superfood #2: Fermented Foods Fermented foods have gone through a fermentation process (some of the most commonly known include wine, cheese and pickles). These foods contain communities of friendly bacteria that are vital to the health of the colon and the whole digestive tract. If you consume a variety of different live ferments, you promote greater microbial biodiversity in your body. You can help improve your overall health and enhance your immune system functions by improving your gut health. Additionally fermented foods also are packed with probiotic – the good bacteria. You can purchase raw sauerkraut in most health food stores or make your own following this recipe with this 2 ingredients recipe video. Superfood #3: Bone Broth Next up is bone broth. It is important to know there is a difference between broth made from packages and broth made from bones. Stock found on the shelves at your local grocery store is typically packed with salt, MSG, and preservatives – not exactly a superfood. However, you can easily make your own bone broth at home instead using bones from grass-fed beef, pastured poultry or wild caught fish. As a result, the broth will contain gelatin, glucosamine and collagen which helps you maintain a healthy gut. I have the most amazing recipe for you, right here to enjoy your first cup of bone broth. Superfoods #4: Grass-fed Meat Grass-fed beef offers many health benefits which are not present in grain-fed beef. The main benefits come from a polyunsaturated fat called conjugated linoleic acid (CLA), and the proper ratio of Omega 6 and 3 fats. CLA has been found to fight cancer and helps the body burn fat. The positive ratio of 3 Omega 6’s: 1 Omega 3 prevents inflammation, lowers blood pressure and reduces inflammation. You can purchase grass-fed meat in most health food stores and even in regular grocery stores now. Superfoods #5: Sea Vegetables These are the only plants that produce a significant amount of Vitamin D and contain high amounts of calcium and magnesium. Sea vegetables also packed with iodine which is an important nutrient that contributes to the health of many parts of the body including the thyroid, brain and metabolism. Sea vegetables can be easily incorporated into your day-to-day snacks such as this wrap recipe. A diet based on an assortment of nutritious foods, including sufficient healthy fats, vegetables and protein is the best way to ensure a balanced nutrient intake. Learn how to integrate these “superfoods” on a daily basis so give it a try and incorporate these 5 new superfoods to supplement your diet with these awesome and much-needed nutrients.
