5 Tips to Staying Motivated
We’re heading into July, which for many means summer vacation, beach & burgers, concerts in the park, graduations, travel and moving past the invisible half way mark for the 12 months on the calendar. Can it be that just a short time ago we were at the New Year?

How are you doing? How is your life showing up?

Whether you made a resolution or set your intentions you still have plenty of time to achieve your success.

Whether you choose to stay motivated to exercise (improve or sustain your health), to laugh more (improve or sustain your joy), to increase your profit (improve or sustain your business), to be more present in your intimate relationships (improve or sustain your love) the key is to keep your energy at a high enough level to keep moving toward your goal.

How you do this is to recognize any distractions vying for your attention. First identify what drains and distracts your energy. Usually it’s the quality of your conversation.

Is it sabotaging beliefs? Limiting thoughts? An old story that you need to release?

Tip #1 Invest in a coach to support you in your breakdown to your breakthrough.

You are here and you want to go – there. This is a way for you to get there. I’m a coach and I have several coaches on my team. Just recently, I met with two of my coaches to clarify the next steps in my business. Of all the feedback I received I remember hearing unrealistic expectations.

Later the next day, I was sitting in a VIP lunch where Lisa Nichols (The Secret & Chicken Soup for the African American Soul) was speaking. Now I have heard Lisa speak a lot over the last year being in her Global Leadership Program. But on that day I really “heard” her when she said how we have these expectations and are waiting for that thing (whatever it is) to happen instead of …

I don’t know what else she said because that sentence alone resonated back to my earlier coaching session. Her statement gave me my complete breakthrough and clarity. She had coached me to crystal clear clarity from the front of the room.

See, I was thinking that I had done “this” before having started speaking with my first book in 1999, having facilitated retreats, been a breakout speaker and workshop facilitator, spiritual teacher for 14 years. I had a higher expectation about what “this” was suppose to look like and it wasn’t happening. My internal conversation was sabotaging my motivation.

Because of my coaches I modified my expectations; my frustration was replaced with clarity; my energy was focused and directed toward what I needed to do but had told myself I didn’t need to do. My commitment to serve my tribe was stronger and my determination unstoppable!
Tip #2 Harness the power of your thoughts.
I heard this many years ago and have not forgotten it: you are the thinker who thinks the thoughts that creates the things in your life. Simply put, it’s your thoughts that are impacting your motivation. Your thoughts trigger a feeling.

Have you noticed your unmonitored thoughts compare you to others; points out how your diet isn’t working, or how hard it is to save money, and what’s not working in your relationships? How you don’t have any power? Sound familiar? Next time you feel your motivation draining, look first at the thoughts you are thinking and then notice the feeling that follows.

The thoughts you think to yourself, matter. Which is great because what you think is something you have complete total control and power over. You decide what you will think, i.e. your mindset.

The success of your business, weight loss, improved communication, completing college, saving money, eating more healthy, accepting and loving yourself, decreasing the amount of medication you take, living a high vibration and tapping your joy within is based on your conscious effort to think thoughts that align with your goals.

TIP #3 Tap into your vision & intention.
You made the decision. You declared it within, maybe told friends and colleagues and took action. BRAVO! You felt compelled to step into a grander version of yourself! Even if the doctor was the one carrying the message. At some point you said, “Yes!” to a grander version of you.

Now three to six months into the journey of your grander version and you want to say…never mind. It’s too hard. You want to quit…really?

Your vision is your clarity; your intention is your power and both must become palpable. You want to hold your vision within your awareness and your intention in your heart as your defining purpose. Your vision is your guidepost and the power of your intention is your connection to the invisible possibilities for your life.

Too many of you will walk a mile for everyone else but when it comes to yourselves, you get distracted. You can see the vision for the lives of your children and even your friends but when it comes to the vision for your own life, it gets blurry. You love everyone else to and through their breakdowns and breakthroughs and then are on empty when its time for your breakthrough.

Your vision can become the catalyst that propels you forward one baby step to a bigger step to a bold step at a time.

Tip #4 Take A Pit Stopr
What’s your strategy to keep you energized (hydrated) on your journey to living a fulfilled, satisfied, happy and wholistic life achieving your goals and manifesting your intentions?

What’s your pit stop strategy? If you don’t have one, no worries, now would be the time to create it. The key to this strategy is having it in place before you really need it because by the time you need it, it’s too late. By then you could be on empty, frustrated and in overwhelm.

Also notice that it’s a pit stop and not an ove
ight stay. You pull in to get your spirit lifted, your vibration elevated, your funny bone tickled, your energy flowing and your vision renewed and keep going.

Now that you have a coach. You have your vision and intention. You accept the power of your thoughts. You take pit stops. Now what? Take Action. But wait, not just any action.

Tip #5 Take Inspired action.
Have you ever had a hunch or a feeling, tingling that you should do something but you didn’t do it, only to find out later that it was something for you to take action on.

This is something that happens all the time but what makes the difference between people who achieve the results they seek and those who don’t are those people who take inspired action.

We all know how it feels to take inspired action. Just think of the times you decide to do anything and put your heart & soul in it and then felt in the flow of what to do next. Compare that to when you force yourself to do something and all the effort it takes to make it happen. The first was inspired action. Be on the look out for hunches and nudges to take action and then trust the guidance you get.
