6 Tips to Help You Create an Appealing Blog

Thousands of people from all across the globe have either created or contributed to a blog. This is because a blog is an open platform for people to write different posts on specific topics and have the information dispersed by the blog readers. The readers, on the other hand, are allowed to comment on the different posts and give their own views conce
ing the post... good or bad. If it is bad, that can hurt a writer's reputation and no one wants that.

To make your blog appealing to your audience so you can be perceived as an awesome writer, it has to be informative, interesting and equally, well designed.

Here is a practical guide on how to write a blog that will appeal to your readers:

1. Listen to Conversations

Your research may be important in writing quality content, but a more conversant content will appeal more to your readers than an informative one. In fact, blogging involves observing what's happening in the blogosphere and the world-wide-web. And the conversations we normally have daily carry the bulk of what's happening around us. As a result, take your time and listen to the conversations around you and you'll definitely be motivated into coming up with great content.

2. Research

A quality blog post has to be informative to attract more readers. For this reason, you should create more time to research on a particular content before you can embark on writing about it. You can't expect to move your readers with a post that's full of frills or filler words. In fact, recent studies have clearly shown that on-line readers are lazy and they'd rather read a short interesting post than a long and boring one. You're therefore way safer with a short but interesting post than a long one that's full of frills.

I personally recommend writing at least 400 words and no more than 1,000.

3. Second Persona - 'You'

For a more interactive and personal blog post, then it's recommended that you use the second persona to address your audience. In other words, just refer to your readers as 'you' instead of using 'we' or the third persona. This will make your content to be more of a conversation than an article it's supposed to be. Additionally, you'll have an opportunity to incorporate some humor in the article if you get your imaginable audience on the other hand and write the article as if you're addressing them directly.

This will definitely help with the "know, like and trust factor" with your audience, which can help turn prospects into paying clients/customers.

4. Short Paragraphs and Bullet Points

No one prefers to sift through paragraphs and sentences to get the necessary information. This is because on-line readers are busy people and may lack the time to read several paragraphs to get your main idea. You can instead decide to structure your article into short sentences and paragraphs. Remember to include the following if possible:

Headlinesr
Sub headingsr
Bullet pointsr
This will make your post to be more readable and at the same time appear to be more attractive and presentable.

5. Contractions

In order to create a flow in the way you write, try to use contractions instead of the long words. For example, instead of writing 'he has', you can simply contract it to 'he's, or use he'd instead of 'he had'. I know as professionals, we sometimes try not to use contractions to make our content sound more informative, but this writing style is more interesting and acceptable in blog writing.

6. Cohesion and Flow

A great blog post has to have some flow and cohesion. All the sentences in a paragraph have to be coherent with the flow of thought. In simple words, your thoughts should be connected from sentence to sentence and from one paragraph to another. Use transitional phrases like - thus, subsequently or consequently among others, to link different sentences and paragraphs.

Think back to the way you wrote school essays... flowing from the introduction, the body and then to the conclusion. This will help keep the readers wanting to read more throughout the entire blog until the very end.

If your goal in writing a blog is to get readers to return to your website to read more blogs in the future, these six tips should help. Writing quality content in addition to creating appealing designs for your blog posts can increase your website traffic and turn your first time visitors into fans in no time!
