Successful Dieters not only create a new way of acting but also a new way of thinking and this is reflected in the words and phrases that they use. If losing weight has been a chore for you and you want to experience success, you need to tune in to the words you use on a daily basis and remove the following negative phrases from your vocabulary. 1. " I hope this works." People who struggle with their weight put their faith in a diet or exercise plan and hope that IT is the solution they have been looking for. Successful Dieters have faith in themselves and understand that life will throw them some curve balls along the way but they are confident in their ability to handle these obstacles and stay on track. 2. "One day of not caring is not going to matter." The problem with this is that one day easily turns into two or three days of not caring. Successful Dieters know that slow and steady wins the race and look at everyday as an opportunity to do and be more. 3. "Others needs come before mine. Once I meet their needs, then I can take care of myself." Caring for others is important but it doesn't have to prevent you from taking care of yourself. Successful Dieters understand that the healthier they are the more they have to offer others. 4. "If I overeat today I can make up for it by eating less tomorrow." This only works if tomorrow ever comes. Typically, by the time the next day rolls around, this self-promise has been forgotten. Successful Dieters make every day count, they are not content to play games with their health, but instead have created their own personal system that prevents them from swinging too far off course. 5. "I can't find the time to exercise." Successful Dieters have given up the "I can't" phrase. They have fully committed to their goal and even though they may not immediately know "how" they will find the time to exercise, they know they "can" and are therefore open to finding a solution. Consider this; there are 1,440 minutes in a day, if you take 15 - 30 of those minutes to raise your heart and breathing rate through moderate exercise you will significantly contribute to your weight-loss and general health. 6. "Losing weight costs too much money." Successful Dieters see eating healthy and exercising as their own personal insurance plan against poor health. They see the cost of not getting fit as much higher. High blood pressure, doctor's visits, joint stiffness or damage, diabetes, cancer...These are much higher costs than you will ever encounter following a weight loss program. 7. "I work hard; I deserve to eat whatever I want." You do deserve to treat yourself if you work hard, but the treat does not have to be food. Successful Dieters find other ways to pat themselves on the back such as going to a movie, taking a well deserved day of rest or treating themselves to a new item of clothing. They get rewarded and keep their new, slimmer body as a bonus! I want to challenge you to pay attention to the words you use in relation to your weight loss journey and get rid of these and other limiting phrases. Try this for one week; you will be surprised by how much power your words hold.
