There are not many really good guides that people can refer to on the spot for a running shoe. However, when you do find one, you are bombarded with terms that you feel only an athlete would know. • If you have high arches, meaning you saw very little of the print of your arch on the paper, you will under pronate and not absorb shock well enough so you need a shoe that will be able to compensate for that.
• When in doubt, bring the paper with you and show it to the sales person. In a sporting goods store, you ought to be able to get enough advice from them
• Try on a few shoes and really take your time.

• See if the shop manager will let you leave something for collateral while you run around the mall if you don’t have to go out on the street of course.

The best thing you can do is to get as much time with the shoe as at all possible.
