Creative Visualization: Use the Power of Your Imagination to Create What You Want in Your Life (Gawain, Shakti) To order click here. This little book is a jewel. It is a timeless resource for learning and practicing the art of using mental energy to transform and greatly improve health, beauty, prosperity, loving relationships, and the fulfillment of your desires. First published in 1978, this book is now considered a classic, predating The Secret by two decades. But, as I often say, there is really nothing new in the universe, only the discovery and re-discovery of ancient wisdom. I first read this book sometime in the mid-80’s, and although I was intrigued and even attempted to use the meditations and visualizations, at that time I was simply in such a negative place mentally and spiritually that I could not make use of the information. But it somehow stayed with me and many years later when I picked up the book again, I was ready. I hope it doesn’t take as long for others as it did for me. Shakti Gawain is a pioneer in the field of personal and spiritual growth. She provides easy-to-follow exercises, meditations, affirmations, and other techniques to tap into the positive energy and beauty of life and to make positive ideas and concepts a total reality. Her other bestselling books include Living in the Light, The Path of Transformation, Developing Intuition, and Creating True Prosperity. She begins the book by explaining that everything is made up of energy. Spiritual teachers have been saying this for many years and now more and more often we see the scientific confirming the fact. But without going into deep and complex explanations, she simply provides the reader with simple exercises and meditations to visualize what you desire and energize it with emotion. The affirmations together with the positive exercises are easy and fun to do and have the added benefit of relieving stress and therefore improving health. Major and minor topics and issues are covered in an artful way. This book presents a very positive and gentle source of various methods to creatively envision small and large dreams. Don’t think, however, that this is another avenue to serve greed or shallow-minded thinking. For example, she discourages the cycle of trying to have more money, so you can do what you want in life, so you will be happier. “The way it actually works is the reverse,” she explains. “You must first be who you really are, then do what you need to do, in order to have what you want.” Yet she also writes an excellent chapter on the “seeming paradox” of fulfilling desires while remaining on a spiritual path and encourages letting go of misguided guilt that can prevent us from becoming truly prosperous. This testimonial appears on the back cover of some issues:
Creative Visualization has been successfully used in the fields of health, education, business, sports, and the arts for many years. Gawain explains how to use mental imagery and affirmations to produce positive changes in one’s life. The book contains meditations and exercises that are aimed at helping the practitioner channel energies in positive directions, strengthen self-esteem, improve overall health, and experience deep relaxation. This is the book that launched a movement. "Creative visualization works." — Oprah Winfrey
If you don’t already have this little book in your library, I strongly suggest that you get a hold of a copy. This gem of a book is just as relevant and powerful as it was over 30 years ago. To order click here.
