A positive, spiritual future.
We’re another year into the 21st century.
But what does it mean for humanity?
A new year used to mean a time to pause for reflection and a starting point from which to go in a new direction, should your resolutions point you that way, but that was in a time when things seemed more stable and life seemed just to meander along.
Now, life is no longer so certain. Of course, things always change but in light of recent events, it seems that, instead of advancing, we’re actually heading into peril.
If you believe the information interpreted from the Mayan calendar or the Egyptian pyramids, or you follow the prophecies of others, you may think there isn’t much time left for our civilization to change its ways.
If you have watched the ecological destruction of our planet and the associated global changes this has wrought, surely you must be wondering where it will all end – and whether there can possibly be a positive outcome.
Humanity had so many chances over the millenniums to change its course – and yet we doggedly continued on the same, flawed path. Now it appears that we are headed for at least one of the following scenarios.
1. Ecological destruction due to climate change.
2. Economic upheaval.
3. Civil unrest.
4. War.
Is this our fate?
It doesn’t have to be.
If we don’t want one, or all, of these scenarios to occur, we will have to change our thinking and our actions.
Humanity is not meant to wither and die. It has great resilience. The reason we’re in this mess is mostly due to our inability to comprehend the spiritual laws of the universe. Thus, in our rush to become a materialistic species, we’ve brought these disasters on ourselves.
Are there answers?
Can we turn our world around?
Certainly there are solutions but these will require a major change in our thoughts and our actions. Many of our previous world leaders and great thinkers were sure that man had the potential to choose whether we would live on a decaying world or whether we would make a great new civilization. Throughout this article you will see some of their comments.
Mahatma Gandhi said: “In the attitude of silence the soul finds the path in a clearer light, and what is elusive and deceptive resolves itself into crystal clea
ess. Our life is a long and arduous quest after Truth.”
It’s time to stop going round in circles.
If we examine the history of our world we see a merry-go-round effect. Humanity seemed to following the same self-defeating circles, time after time. We never stopped to evaluate the past, consider the present or wonder about the future. As a whole, we pretty much just accepted the way things were unfolding.
This is wrong! So very wrong!
Over the centuries we have seen the rise of the Aztec, Babylonian, Roman, Turkish, Greek, Egyptian and Chinese Empires. All of these exerted great power during their eras, but each eventually fell by the wayside and a new authority took over. More recently we had the British Empire and the Soviet Union, both of which were dominant for a time and then waned. Now it seems that the American corporate system has pervaded most of the world - but if history is anything to go by, this country will also eventually lose its influence. Things go in cycles and the materialism and greed of the corporate world will ultimately crumble. It just isn’t sustainable long-term. What length of time this takes depends to a great extent on how long the majority of the world’s population is prepared to submit to this form of control.
Having taken this quick tour through history, we can now see that all the ‘great’ civilizations and flawed ideologies of the past had a certain time of triumph and glory. We can also see that despite their power and influence, they all eventually collapsed. Warfare, drought, natural disaster, disease, overpopulation, and economic disruption were just some of the causes.
Confucius said, “Study the past if you would define the future.”
Surely it’s time we evaluated the underlying reasons for all our conflict. Is it possible that if society was fair and equal for all, we could stop being angry and resentful and could begin to make a world where all people co-existed in harmony?
Well, could we?
Maybe there’s a karmic force at work here. Perhaps humanity’s reluctance to alter its behavior is causing us to learn the same lessons over and over again – until such time as we get it right.
If we understand this, we should really question whether we’re ready to tread the path to human maturity or do we still want to continue as we are?
Many past leaders realized the futility of the present system and tried to tell us to move forwards by thinking differently and acting differently, but we didn’t listen.
Franklin D. Roosevelt said, “The point in history at which we stand is full of promise and danger. The world will either move forward toward unity and widely shared prosperity - or it will move apart.”
So, how can we make changes and help our world to progress?
Benjamin Disraeli, a former British Prime Minister, stated, “Change is inevitable. In a progressive country change is constant.”
When I take a look at what passes for life on our planet, I really can’t figure out why so many people have tolerated our strange way of living for so long. Humanity has made the same mistakes, century after century, and never questioned why. We’ve stayed caught in the same never-ending cycle of mediocrity, without once wondering whether it might be time to push the boundaries and think outside the square. Now it’s the 21st century and many people believe that the end of civilization, as we know it, may be near. But still we sit idly by and do nothing to change our circumstances. Are we crazy?
When I started pondering this, I found myself sailing on an amazing voyage of discovery. I realized that there was hope for our future, but the destiny of the human race was, for the most part, up to people, everywhere, to shape.
I believe humanity has been given a second chance. We’ve been given another opportunity to face the future head on - and this time we must get it right. Sure, we made mistakes in the past. History is full of times when the inhabitants of this planet faced ever-increasing gloom and despair, but this time there must be a way to break the cycle.
Shaping the Future.
Mankind will never be able to move forward, if it keeps utilizing the same destructive customs, behaviors, traditions and routines, which have previously hindered our evolution. These methods have, for too long, influenced society in a negative manner and caused us to stagnate. Once we understand this, we can stop repeating the same mistakes over and over - and finally start building a new, ever-advancing civilization.
If we use progressive thinking, humanity has great capacity to solve its problems and turn adversity into triumph.
If we can alter our world, using a positive focus, mankind may be pleasantly surprised by the spiritual enlightenment this will bring.
Look forward.
If we’re ever going to make a bright future for this planet, we’re going to have to work towards it in a totally systematic way. We’ll have to embrace our intelligence and we’ll need to use our spirituality - because unless we approach the 21st century, and beyond, with these two aspects in harmony, we’ll never really progress. We need to challenge the old ways and concentrate on the type of change which brings about positive progress, harmony and unity of mankind. Anything which doesn’t do this will not be beneficial to us. Constructive change is essential if we’re ever going to advance. Thus, we need to focus on the good we can do to help all people - and stop making the types of decisions and schemes, which only benefit a select few. Until we make a conscious effort to evaluate where we’ve come from, and where we want to go, we’ll never really look forward.
It’s time to get organized and fight back – not with weapons or anger - but with positive concepts and actions.
“Non-violence is the greatest force at the disposal of mankind. It is mightier than the mightiest weapon of destruction devised by the ingenuity of man.” Mahatma Gandhi
A bright future for mankind.
Although we’re still living in turbulent times, this may be one final ‘test’, to see if we’re smart enough to learn from our mistakes. When we’re ready to look at where we’ve gone wrong - perhaps we’ll then be prepared to discard the outdated, flawed methods of the past, and mature enough to explore new ways of living on this planet. Sure, we’ve made lots of errors in the past but this doesn’t stop us from going forward. It simply means we need to re-think our priorities and change our perspective, so we can channel our energies into new, more positive processes.
If we accept this challenge, mankind will find itself progressing spiritually, technologically and intellectually, very rapidly. This will involve a major shift in direction but if we go with the flow, we have the ability to make this the most wonderful time our world has ever experienced!
Now, we’ve got to start questioning the important issues – and here are some of them.
Do we really want to continue to live in this oppressive, unfair society?
Why do we constantly base everything on a flawed, unjust, financial system?
When will we reach breaking point?
How will we cope when our planet has lost most of its ecosystems, food supplies, clean air and water?
Can we survive if we don’t have a positive long-term plan?
Is there any hope for the future?
We can’t continue to rely on the same old people for solutions. They haven’t got any. That’s been proven time after time. Now it’s a new millennium and we need a new way.
The key is Positive People Power.
We need people - lots of people - to take the challenge, make the changes and help our world to progress.
If many individuals unite, and work together for the common good, we will then have the power to form forward-thinking communities, countries and ultimately, one united planet.
Each of us has the ability to make a difference.
You don’t have to feel helpless any more!
There are a number of things we must do in order to change.
1. We must examine the inadequacies of the current way of living.
2. We must question the old ways and see if there are better solutions.
3. We must find a new method of existence – one with a vastly different set of parameters, which will give mankind a much brighter future and a new standard for living.
4. In the 21st century we should be focusing on positive progress with a spiritual basis. We should be solving the existing problems and overcoming the obstacles which make life less than perfect.
5. We need a new blueprint.
6. We must become an ever-advancing civilization.
Never before, in the history of our world, has society considered making a plan for its future development but realistically, what other option do we have?
There will never be a better time to begin. It’s time for humanity, in its entirety – every man, woman and child – to take control and map out a plan which will promote the best interests of our world. n
I’m going to prove that there are answers for the problems facing society today. These solutions aren’t complex or difficult to implement. They’re logical and easy to apply. If we follow them, we will quickly be able to demonstrate that our future can be absolutely magnificent.
- We can build a better, brighter world, with equality and justice for all mankind.
- We can go forward to utilize new, beneficial technologies.
- We can discover new sciences and philosophies.
- We can begin to utilize much more of the latent potential of our minds.
- We can make man see what is really valuable in life. To bring back a sense of community spirit and to make every person joyful.
- We WILL do all these things and we’ll do them using a new- found spirituality.
Blueprint for a New World.
President John F. Kennedy said, "There are costs and risks to a program of action, but they are far less than the long-range risks and costs of comfortable inaction."
Businesses continuously devise new strategies, in order to make ever-increasing profits.
Governments develop policies to shape their agendas.
People set goals, when they aspire to higher aims.
Mankind, however, has not worked out a plan of action.
We seem happy to let fate decide.
How very naive of us!
As I see it, we have two options:
1. Stay as we are (or)
2. Change to become a progressive society in a progressive world.
It’s all about choice. We have free will. We’re free to wallow in misery and continue along the same path to destruction or we can resolve to make this a wonderful planet on which to live. If we choose the first option, we’ll be voting to keep the same lifestyle as now and who-knows-what in the future but should we select the second option, which is to change our perspective, our destiny could be unimaginably wonderful.
I know what I would choose. Now it’s up to you.
People who join forces together have tremendous influence.
Let’s get one thing straight right now. People Power isn’t about protesting. We don’t believe that protesting changes much at all. Sure, it might make the world’s media sit up and take note but it takes more than this to bring about real transformation.
True People Power is having a say in the way things are ...and it’s about making positive change.
Want proof?
Here are some of the things we can alter if we put our minds to the task.
- We have the ability to change things which are wrong and are not in our best interests.
- We have the power to use all manner of concepts which lead to the establishment of a better world.
- We have the might to declare, "There are over 6 billion of us on this planet and it’s time we got a say.
- We don't want your biased media with its vested interests who seek to sway our opinions. People have the power to make their own media - one which encourages positive ideas, progressive concepts and future growth of our civilization.
- We don't want your radio and TV, if it's only going to show the same old programs which inhibit our minds and stifle our creativity. We can make our own programs which will stimulate and enthuse us to take positive action to make life better.
- We don't want your corporations. These multi-national conglomerates have amalgamated to quash their smaller competitors, steal their ideas, stomp on any new concepts, cut costs, downsize, cause billions of us to be unemployed or under-employed, keep us poor, manipulate our governments, pay virtually no dues and taxes - and generally suppress billions of individuals - all in aid of ever greater profits for the company and its stockholders. THIS IS WRONG! SO VERY WRONG!
- We’ll teach those industries which try to screw us for every last cent that they can no longer do this. They may think they run the show, but they rely on our hard earned money to keep their companies afloat. Without our money, they’d soon find out who’s really got the power. In the bible it said ‘The meek shall inherit the Earth.’ Well, we’re the meek and we’re claiming our inheritance!
Positive People Power means all of us will have a vessel for change. It means regular people will have a say.
- We can make our own small business and employ others again. We can build and run small to medium sized companies for all our essentials. We’ll provide our own bakeries, groceries, butchers' shops, shoe stores, clothing, computer companies and more....
- We can even form our own power or utility companies, water management, newspapers, magazines and TV stations. Surely we can't do a worse job than those who run these things now. We won't continuously put prices up, just to appease our stockholders. Heck, we’ll all be the stockholders - every last one of us. So we sure don't want to hurt ourselves, do we?
- We can use our natural talents and the skills for which we studied or trained.
- We can establish good social welfare (but if I'm right, we won't need much - because with this system everyone will have the opportunity to have a job.)
- We’ll bring the best health care to everyone and not just to those who can pay and we’ll abolish the cruel and unfair system of private health insurance which exists in so many countries today.
- We can give every single person or family on this planet a way to move forward. A way to have some hope. A way out of poverty and a way to live in dignity.
“Humanity must change and grow. We must fulfill our potential. Not taking action could cause mankind to falter and wither. We must use our intelligence and the ability to expand our minds and our horizons. We must chart the unknown possibilities of existence and be open to options we never considered.” Star Trek Generations, Series 7.

When everyone else thinks you’re crazy, you must be doing something right
Did you know that the West Coast Offense in American football began as a mistake? In his book, “The Score Takes Care of Itself,” late NFL Hall of Fame Coach Bill Walsh recalls how a botched play led to a major change in how football teams run their offense. It goes back to a time when he was an assistant coach with the Cincinnati Bengals… “Early in the second half of our game with the Oakland Raiders, Bengals tight end Bob Trumpy came out of the huddle and lined up on the wrong end of the line of scrimmage—the left instead of the right side, as the play called for.
