A Prayer of Aspiration, Consecration and Peaceful Receptivity to the Divine Impulsion in Life

As long as we focus on outer circumstances and involve ourselves in them, we are participating in what some have called the “illusory” life of the world. The world is not illusory in an ultimate sense, since it is a manifestation of the Divine consciousness, but it is illusory in the sense that achievement of specific societal goals or objectives is an end in itself. The more we are fixated on these exte
al actions and their fruits, the less we are able to aspire, shift the focus towards the Divine, and be receptive to the Divine impulsion that has its own intention in the manifestation in general and in the individual role in particular.

Once an individual is able to shift the standpoint to the psychic being, it is able to focus upon the higher vibratory pattern of the Divine Consciousness and all exte
al worldly events take on a lesser significance. They represent at that point the residue of past actions, both individual and within the setting and time within which the individual lives and acts, and the facts they present are the result of those past impulsions. The individual then has choices before him, but none of them need destroy the foundation of peace that the spiritual seeker is cultivating. He can either disregard them entirely and focus fully on spiritual realisation; or he can try to address the circumstances with his ego-personality and the tools he has at his disposal in his mind, vital and physical being; or he can call upon the Divine to guide and lead him to an appropriate line of action in regard to what is occurring.

To the extent that he can maintain peace and receptivity he has a better opportunity to tune himself to the larger divine manifestation and its action and thereby both understand his role in the process and the best means he can adopt to accomplish that function.

The Mother’s prayer embodies the aspiration to become a truer servitor of that higher Truth and become a true doer of divine works. She embodies aspiration, consecration, peace and receptivity in the prayer she expresses here.

The Mother writes: “O Lord, my one aspiration is to know Thee and serve Thee better every day. What do outer circumstances matter? They seem to me each day more vain and illusory, and I take less and less interest in what is going to happen to us in the outer life; but more and more am I intensely interested in the one thing which seems important to me: To know Thee better in order to serve Thee better. All outer events must converge upon this goal and this goal alone; and for that all depends upon the attitude we have towards them. To seek Thee constantly in all things, to want to manifest Thee ever better in every circumstance, in this attitude lies supreme Peace, perfect serenity, true contentment. In it life blossoms, widens, expands so magnificently in such majestic waves that no storm can any longer disturb it.”
