“A Wondrous Healing Agent”

“A True Story of a Spiritual Experience in the Midsts of Giants”

A while back we were visiting the Mendocino coastline of Califo
ia. And on the way there we stopped in the Navarro Redwoods and there a mystical experience took place.

Here we are driving our rented RV along the road and all of a sudden we came to dense forest full of huge redwood trees… and then something happened. The air was moist and the smell of the redwood needles on the ground was so enticing that we had to stay. When driving a big RV it’s not easy to pull over and stop, but I knew we had to make a stop here to take it all in.

And once we got out and walked around it was like all those redwood trees were sucking up all the stress we had inside. And considering we just drove from Yosemite National Forest and that’s a long trip, we had a little bit of stress from being on the road for so long. But all that stress disappeared in seconds in this wondrous place of peace and calm. This place where the only thing we could heard was the slight breeze moving the limbs on the trees.

And all of a sudde
I got this feeling that this forest was filled with the essence of God and Great Spirit. A special place that’s been accepted as spiritual for thousands of years. A place that not only heals the body but also heals a person’s spirit with solitude and a complete break from everything. No wonder that Native American people who lived in the area thought this forest was magical— it is!

I really didn’t want to leave but we had to make our way to the coast. But I knew that on the way back we would stop and spend some time in the midsts of these giants who stood tall like sentinels for thousands of years. It was interesting because we had just come from a place with lots of redwoods. But the difference was overwhelming to say the least, there was something in the air, something that’s hard to express in words.

But eventually we had to get going to the beautiful coastline but the next day we made our way back. And we did stop and spend time with those friendly giants. Plus Great Spirit was very kind because that morning a beautiful fog rolled in bringing moisture to the redwoods. I felt like a baby looking up at my parents knowing I was in the presence of divinity. A feeling of wonder and awe came over me— a feeling that would not leave. We spent a fair amount of time there before heading back to the valley. But I did not want to leave Great Spirit was showing me how wonderful nature could be with her powerful offering of peace, simplicity, and her connection to God Himself. If only I could put that magical experience into a bottle and give it to people who are ill, depressed, or those who are full of anxiety— all of that would disappear.

My wife and I were blessed to have the pleasure of being in the midst of these friendly giants. For sure we will go back and partake of that most wondrous healing agent of all—Mother Nature.
