When you set up your own business you will need to think about marketing yourself to try and find work. By having your own business cards, leaflets and postcards you will be able to quickly target your chosen market and hopefully find new clients.
1. Business Cards
One of the most popular ways of advertising your services is to create business cards. These have the advantage of being easy to carry with you, allowing you to distribute them to any potential clients that you may meet. This could be at either social or formal networking meetings or simply sending to local businesses whose customers may require your services.
Having business cards is great for marketing as you can include all relevant contact details along with any other small amounts of information that you may feel is required. Do not feel that you have to spend a lot of money on cards, many people make their own and providing you keep them smart and professional looking then this is not a problem.
2. Leaflets
Leaflets fall into a similar category as business cards in that they are easy to carry with you and can be a great way to provide possible clients with information on your business. The bonus to having leaflets is that you can incorporate more detailed information on what it is that you do and even rough ideas of your fees etc.
Try to keep your leaflets uncluttered and professional and ask about leaving some in a shop or business that is relevant to your line of work. You could also increase your marketing by posting them out to companies that you think may be interested in your services.
3. Postcards
Postcards are probably a form of marketing that are not used as much as they should be; think of them as being in between a leaflet and a business card. They can be a great way of getting information about both yourself and your business to as many people as possible.
Sending out postcards can be a great way to inform past or current clients of any promotions that you may have or if you have branched out to include other areas of work that they may be interested in. As with the other forms of communication it is vital that you keep them professional looking and pleasing to the eye so that they are more likely to be read.
