This year, I have been writing about the history of aromatherapy and the numerous ways a person can administer or gain benefits from powerful essential oil compounds through traditional and innovative methods. Among all the ways one can administer aromatic essential oil therapy, one method stands alone when it comes to gaining maximum results in the shortest period of time---Cold Air Atomized Diffusion.
The key to therapeutic essential oil use is enabling the oil compound molecules to reach the bloodstream and ultimately target parts of the body that will benefit from those compounds. The science behind atomization is the ability to break oil molecules down so they can effectively cross the blood brain barrier and affect the central nervous system without the body working too hard to absorb those molecules. In addition, if the air in the environment we breathe is effectively saturated with specific essential oil nebulisate suspended in the air long enough, our bodies will feel the benefits of these powerful airbo e molecules.
The advantage of cold air diffusion is using pure essential oil without the need for heavy carrier oils or water to distribute its therapeutic attributes into the air we breathe. The technology used to atomize these oil molecules and sustain the suspended nebulisate in the air, requires specific atomizer technology with the correct amount of air pressure. This creates a micro-fine vapor in the air almost creating invisible clouds of powerful compounds. Due to molecules as small as 1-3 microns, the body can breathe in and absorb through the mucous membrane, these compounds that stimulate the olfactory bulb at the base of the brain, while making their way into the bloodstream.
Not only do we feel the benefits of these oils in parts of the body we are trying to improve, we also experience cognitive and neural regeneration that can heighten our senses and improve awareness, memory capacity and even memory recall. Research has shown that our bodies are more sensitive and aware through smell than any of the other senses of the body. Information from smell can affect taste and associated memories as well as influence decision making, such as avoiding a dangerous situation (leaky propane gas), or compel us to safe and pleasing environments (coffee shop, bakery).
It is important we understand the enormous power of essential oils and how to diffuse them responsibly. This can be done with a reasonable knowledge about the oils you wish to use before using them. In general, pure essential oils can be divided into two groups of chemical constituents; the hydrocarbons which are made up almost exclusively of terpenes, and the oxygenated compounds which are primarily esters, aldehydes, ketones, alcohols, phenols and oxides.
This table demonstrates the hydrocarbon and oxygenated compound elements, their effects, and the system of the body that may benefit when these oils are properly diffused.
All pure essential oils have antibacterial properties. They increase production of white blood cells, which help fight infectious illnesses. Research has found that people who consistently use pure essential oils have higher levels of resistance to illnesses, colds, flues, and diseases than the average person. Further indications show that such individuals, after contracting a cold, flu, or other illness, will recover 60-70 percent faster than those who do not use essential oils.
Essential oils are the most powerful natural compounds on the planet. It is no coincidence that our body's molecular, psychological and physiological structure respond so well when introduced to the plant kingdom's finest offering.
