Have you ever noticed how mundane it is to ask someone, especially a total stranger, how they are doing? In most cases you will get the same unconscious response of "fine" "good" or an answer that doesn't really offer much in the way of clarity and authenticity.
If one critically examines the questio
"how are you doing?" it becomes clear that the question makes little sense. How can a person really answer this question of how they are doing? Might they say, I am doing with my body and my mind or I am doing this with a computer or I am doing this with that and so forth. It becomes clear that this question is in fact an unconscious question to ask. Let's reverse this silly trend and bring this phrase into conscious awareness by changing the word of doing to blessed. How are you blessed?
What is really being asked energetically through the questio
"how are you doing" would be more clearly stated as "what are you feeling right now in this moment?" To stop and take the time to ask someone what they are feeling and help them become self-aware of the present moment is a beautiful gesture. Ask such questions in a way that it becomes a pattern interrupt for the other person. Often times people walk around this world doing things but simultaneously living inside their head stuck on a vicious feedback loop of thoughts and in this loop they are ignorant of what it is to truly be present and to show up authentically wherever they are.
Asking someone how they are blessed is a wonderful opportunity for that person to upgrade their life in the exact moment you are asking them. It gives them the chance to really think about how they are blessed and what it is they are grateful for. When someone else asks me how I am doing, my answer is usually "I am blessed!" and I begin to tell them what I am grateful for. So, how are you blessed? What are you grateful for?

***Zen and the Art of Breathing
It is no coincidence that the archer has always been associated with Zen. Archery is used in sport, in war, for hunting, for survival, for self-mastery, and simply for enjoyment. And so is the breath! The force that builds up in the bow as you draw it back is like the force that builds up in your body as you inhale. The force that is released when the arrow flies is like the force that is released when you exhale.
