You may read a horoscope column and think, " that doesn't sound like me" or "that's not happening to me". The reason for this is the columnist writes from the perspective that the Sun is the same as the Rising Sign (ascendant). The Rising Sign was the sign coming over the horizon at the time of day you were born. Since that sign changes every two hours a day, the columns don't always hit the mark.

If you know your Rising Sign, read that along with your Sun sign and you're more apt to get information you can use.

The Sun in your horoscope is the Life-Force of your personal Solar System. If you know someone who easily shines in a group, there may be a well-supported Sun is in his/her birth horoscope. That means the other planets were in a harmonious geometric relationship to the Sun. All the planets symbolize aspects of you; the Sun represents your will and spirit.

You may not want to be the center of attention, but most people like to express themselves effectively. If you're feeling somewhat thwarted, it can be useful to know how to "feed your Sun" and get on the right track. In our Solar System, the Sun is what gives Earth life.

In the birth horoscope, the Sun symbolizes your inner spark. If this is challenged because of other planetary dynamics, you may struggle to light that spark. For instance, if you're not able to "pioneer" and you're an Aries, then you may be limited in your self-expression.

Learning a bit about astrology or having a session with a good astrologer can help you understand what may be holding back your light.

This doesn't mean if you were born an Aquarius and dress in Brooks Brothers that you will suddenly wear Betsy Johnson. But an Aquarius has a strong individualistic streak and it is essential to get comfortable with that if that's your story.

Whatever your Sun sign, you are vibrating with its myth and have been since birth. For many of us, we grow more into it as we gain life experience. Your life-force reaches for the "ups" and triumphs through the "downs" and is represented by the Sun in your horoscope. Let it shine!
