You go to school, you get your education, you get your experience and your working world should be in pretty good shape right? While that may be true for many of you I’ll bet my bottom dollar it’s not true for each of you.

Would you like this to be true for you? Heck Yes! Why wouldn’t you? What would you need to change to make this career of yours sing for you? What would need to be different so you could hop out of bed every morning ready to jump into your business day?

If you work for a company and you are not totally happy with your job within this company, what are your options? Can you tweak your responsibilities in any way to make it more desirable for you? I might also throw out that if you are not happy in your current position that your top values and strengths are not being honored. You are not working in a situation where you can be authentic, honor the woman that you are and demonstrate what you are worth. Life is too short for that. What can you do to change this?

If you are a small business owner or entrepreneur you may have more control over your job and its responsibilities; or maybe you don’t? I know of many women who are so excited to be in a position where you can own your own business, be your own boss, create your own work situation and then just get burned out faster than the speed of light. You started this business so you could DO your great work whether you are a coach, a designer and organizer or other profession. That’s honorable but now you find yourself doing things you never wanted in your job description! You may be building your own website, putting up your blog, doing your marketing, bookkeeping and all the rest that goes along with running a business. You may even be thinking “I think I’ll just go get a real job in a company” but don’t quit on yourself yet. There is one word that can change everything for you and its only 7 letters. That word in “Delegate” and it will change your life!

I also know that you may not be able to hire someone for all of the jobs you don’t like to do yourself or don’t even know how to do right away. That’s ok. Just start slow but be sure to start. Need a website? A blog, an ezine? Go to www.elance.com and put in a request for what you need accomplished and you will get bids from all kinds of professionals to help you at a very reasonable investment.

So, what’s the bottom line here? Whether you work for a large or small company or you work for yourself there are things you can do to make your job more desirable. It takes initiative, it takes planning and it takes action. You are the only one that can change your situation. I honor the professional woman you are and know that you can create a work environment that brings you joy and happiness as well as fills your bank account. You deserve that and more.

I would love to hear where you get stuck or discouraged. Please email me and share your thoughts at mailto:kim@positiveaginginc.com and I promise to get back to you.

I wonder how many of you even know. I'll bet a lot of you don't know. Or you kind of know but not really. It's vitally important for you to know. For some of you, if you have a more 'elaborate' retirement planned (lots of travel etc) you will need more than someone who has very simple wants and desires. There certainly is no right way but you need to know your truth. One of the lucky things about being a woman is you generally live longer than men. Wonderful!! But you will need more money.

Is there ever a bad time? I don't think so. And I also believe that if you ramp up your business your life will change and if you ramp up your life, your business with change. I really don't believe you can separate the two but for now I want to focus on your business.

Ethical Wills have been around for many generations but seem to be regaining their strength. That may be simply because many of you are getting to the stage in life where you begin thinking about what you are passing along to your children or other loved ones. Another term for Ethical Wills might be a “Values and Vision Statement.” In a nutshell, it is a tool for passing your memories, values and traditions to your loved ones and future generations. Keep in mind that an Ethical Will is not a legal document.
