Bananas: Great for Hair and the Skin, Too

The following is a magic mix for one having dry, frizzy, or damaged hair. Simply mash half a ripe banana and half a ripe avocado in a bowl. Add 1 tablespoon of extra-virgin olive oil and three drops of lemon oil. Mix everything together and work the mixture into one’s dry hair. Cover one’s hair with a shower cap, wait 60 minutes or so, and shampoo as usual. For badly damaged hair, repeat this treatment up to three times a week until the bounce and shine return.
As for one with dull skin, here’s a facial one will go bananas for: Puree one banana and one avocado in a blender. Apply the mixture to one’s skin and leave it on for at least 20 minutes, then rinse with warm water and pat dry. If one has dry skin, follow up with a moisturizer.
Now, for those who need an even simpler skin treatment, just mash a banana and add 1 tablespoon of honey. Cover one’s face with the mixture, let it sit for 15 minutes and rinse with warm water.
Now, for those who have plantar warts, one can remove a painful, plantar wart with banana peels. At bedtime, tape a piece of banana peel, inner side down, over the wart. Cover the peel with a bandage or a tight sock and leave it on ove
ight. Repeat the process each night until the wart is gone. It shouldn’t take more than two or three treatments.
Now, this has nothing to do with eliminating warts, helping damaged hair or dealing with dull skin, it’s just a delicious shake made with an overripe banana. Of course, the potassium in this fruit can keep the muscles humming. One will need a very ripe banana, 1 cup of plain yogurt, ½ cup of milk, 1 tablespoon of vanilla extract, 1 tablespoon of honey, 1 tablespoon of wheat germ, and a dash of ground cinnamon. In a blender, combine the banana, yogurt, milk, vanilla, honey, and wheat germ. Blend on high, until creamy and smooth. Pour into a tall glass and dust with the cinnamon. This recipe yields one serving.
Here’s one more recipe involving a banana for those who are always on the go and sometimes skips breakfast. The recipe is referred to as a tropical banana breakfast. One will need 1 cup of frozen tropical fruit chunks, 1 cup of orange juice, and 1 medium banana. Combine all of the ingredients in a blender and process until smooth, pulsing, if necessary. This recipe yields one serving.
Of course, bananas aren’t something homes in America grow in their backyard (????) but many of us do have weeds that seem to grow all by themselves and we should take advantage of those that do offer a food and or healing resource. In the book, “Lost Book of Remedies,” we can learn so much about weeds and how many of them can help us and at no cost. This book is a complete resource showing pictures of hundreds of weeds and plants going into depth about their healing qualities and nutritional value. It’s a must-need for ALL wanting to find a way to either cut-back on pharmaceutical drugs or high medical expenses. Wouldn’t it be amazing that every plant or weed that grows in your yard offers food at your table along with providing medicinal remedies?
