BE THE PEACE AND THE LOVE YOU DESIRE

Today I’m finding it interesting to ponder the thought that we cannot give away what we don’t have. If we hold on to bitte
ess, anger, or feelings of betrayal and victimization, we leave no room for the expansion of love in our hearts. If we don’t have love, harmony, and peace within us, then we can’t offer these qualities to those we come into contact with. If we have anxiety, stress, fear, anger, and tension within, that is all that we will be able to give away.

I know that I find it incredibly liberating to wake up each morning affirming all that I have to be grateful for. In doing so, I plant seeds of positivity and limitless possibility for my day. By actively beginning each day in this way, I find that I have more joy, compassion, and love to give away. Nourishing myself from the inside-out begins with consistent appreciation for all of my existing blessings. Flowing with life from that energetic space is beautiful. Life flows much more easily and peacefully when I consciously choose to respond to whatever life throws at me from a place of inner serenity and soul-full gratitude. Cultivating daily feelings of gratitude and worthiness puts me in energetic alignment with abundant, prosperous living. This is possible and available to us all.

It is fascinating to recognize that we truly do get what we give in this life. When we respond to others with fear, criticism, and ridicule — only choosing to see our differences — we set ourselves up for a miserable cycle of disappointment and grief. Conversely, if we respond with compassion, choosing to BE the love we wish to receive, and choosing to BE the acceptance we wish to feel, we pave the way for fulfilling interactions, deeper connections, and more gratifying experiences.

Whether we realize it or not, we choose the kind of universe we exist in. We determine whether it is helpful and supportive or hostile and unsupportive. When we see the universe as a warm and supportive one, we will naturally seek evidence to support this view. St. Francis’s famous prayer states the following: “Make me an instrument of your peace.” In other words, St. Francis wasn’t asking God to provide him with peace. He was asking for guidance to BE peaceful. Being peace is different from looking for peace. As we become be-ings of peace, we effortlessly make a tremendous impact on those around us. It’s almost impossible to be chaotic and stressed out in the presence of someone who has consciously chosen to BE peace. Peace is a higher and faster energy—when we are just being peace-full, our presence alone will likely dispel the uneasiness and tension in those around us. The real secret to a peace-full life is this: Be the peace and harmony you desire. You cannot get it from anything or anyone outside of you. It begins within and flows outward.

BE – ing peace is the best gift we can give ourselves. It’s also a gift we quietly, yet powerfully, give to the world.
