Becoming a Positive Person

Have you ever met a person that instantly made you feel more capable, more productive, more inspired or more effective? I think that most of us have and we always find these individuals valuable members of our family or group of friends. Just what makes someone so positive in another person's life isn't a mystery; it all has to do with their outlook on life.
Positive people are people that everyone wants to be around. They are individuals that look towards the future with eage
ess and a sense of being able to accomplish anything they put their mind to. This is not a personality trait, it is a way of consciously looking at the world to seek out the opportunities, gifts and blessings that the world around provides for everyone. These individuals just look at the situation in a different light to create a positive motivation for success and accomplishment.
These absolutely fall into the "glass is half full" group. They notice but do not focus in on the negatives in a situation, rather they strive to see the opportunities presented. This doesn't mean being delusional about potential problems or obstacles, but it means seeing them as a possibility to overcome, not a huge roadblock that can't be avoided. By seeing the obstacle as a learning opportunity rather than a stoppage, creative solutions for circumventing or hurdling over the obstacle become the focus.
To start having a more positive focus on your future you can take realistic steps to avoid the "glass is half empty" mentality. The first is to automatically examine each thought that you have about something as either positive and helpful or negative and destructive. For example, if a position opens up at work that you would like to apply for but don't have all the qualifications, you may be historically likely to mentally grumble about unfair qualification requirements, the company's unwillingness to promote from within or how your experience doesn't really mean anything.
When these thoughts occur instead of dwelling on the negativity, look towards the goal you want to obtain. How does your current work experience match the requirements of the new job? What education do you need to pursue to be preparing yourself for the next position? What resources do you have or can you obtain to help you pursue that educational opportunity?
Once you switch thinking from why I can't to what I need to do to succeed you automatically move from negative and destructive to positive and constructive thinking. You will transform your thinking and create the type of mental outlook that makes you and everyone around you a happier and more successful person.
