By the time you read this you will have the knowledge to empowering yourself to better health and vitality. Discovering these simple tools has changed my life and many others that I know. Our health is something we shouldn’t take lightly. To many of us leave the care of our health or “Health Care” up to our doctors. This is a scary thought!
It is fascinating; did you know that in 1990 the Surgeon General declared that 80% of American illnesses were due to diet? Did you know that in medical school, nutrition classes are considered an elective? Most doctors that I have talked to know nothing more that to tell you to eat more vegetables, less sugar and stay away from saturated fat. Is it any wonder that Diabetes has become and epidemic? With Obesity inflicting over 60% of our nation, I find that absurd.
Listen; here are a few more facts.
• One in three Americans will develop cancer in their lifetimen • One in four Americans will die from heart diseasen • One in nine school aged children have nutrition related learning difficulties
Will your current health insurance work to keep you healthy or only pay for treatment of a disease once you have it? Don’t get me wrong; we have a wonderful “Crisis Care” system in this country! For acute infections and diseases you couldn’t live in a better place. But I don’t want to wait until I have been diagnosed with heart disease, cancer, arthritis or some other preventable illness before I get involved in my health.
There are many things you can do to help prevent these lifestyle diseases! Start by eating more vegetables and less sugar. No, in all seriousness now, here is a starter list to new health and vitality.
- Drink more water! You are made of 70% water. You need water for every chemical reaction in your body. Shoot for ½ your body weight in oz. per day. So id you weigh 180 lbs. then you would want 90 oz. per day of water. Try to get the majority in the first half of the day.
- Here is the vegetable part. Three to four servings of veggies and fruit per day minimum. We need the chlorophyll to cleans our system.
- Thirty to Forty grams of fiber per day, depending on body size and type.
- Cut out any soda, especially diet soda, or sugar drinks. They are just plain not good for your system all around. This includes the list of energy drinks.
If you are confused by the ever-changing information given out in popular magazines and newspapers about what to eat or not eat, you are not alone. So many people I meet are confused. Today it is this diet, and next month it is another diet. Stop, take a deep breath, and start with a small change. You can also find someone else, a friend or family member, to make changes with you. Start with the changes up above. Try one a week or one per month if that is too much.
If you are ready to begin your journey of self-discovery and learn how you are designed to eat and just need a little support there are many people out there. Find someone you can trust and begin slowly. If you are unsure where to go, please contact me through my website www.integrallifehealing.com, we work nationwide.
