Sick of all the Law of Attraction hype? Me too. Here's something much, much better. It's official. I am finally sick of all the Law of Attraction hype. I have checked out various sites and products promising delivery of your heart's desire with ease and swift response. Law of Attraction products are now reeking with snake oil slickness. And it's all bull! Law of Attraction is not just about manifesting stuff. This is all ego flattering and small-minded rubbish. The Law of Attraction opens up far more than the enjoyment of materialistic outcomes; the Law of Attraction is a pathway to self-discovery and a deep place of personal knowing and peace. Yes I know. I actually sell some of the Law of Attraction manifestation products; one of them is even called '5 ways to manifest all you desire'. However they are a springboard to something greater: a deeper personal awakening. These products reflect in intimate detail my own spiritual journey, and I am honoured to share them with you. More on this later. Back to manifestation. There is nothing wrong with wanting more things to enjoy more of your life, expand your experience, and be more comfortable. This is a natural aspect of being human and playing the human game. However, the mindless obsession for more, as panhandled by Law of Attraction salespeople, is really seductive and misses the greater prize. Manifestation is not a means to happiness. In fact, one of the key points in manifestation exercises is to imagine as if you have already achieved the goal. The whole point of imagining you have something more or different is to get you to feel good. And this is where they miss the point entirely. Feeling good is the end, not the means, in the Law of Attraction. The real truth behind all the Law of Attraction gumph is that feeling good is the main objective.People who want you to buy their products and learn the 'secret' method, or 'fast-track' your results, will have you believe that if you only do x-y-z or a-b-c then the world is your oyster are selling you a deception. Let me repeat this point more plainly: the real purpose in unveiling the Law of Attraction is to help people feel good. That's it. That's all. Perhaps this sounds less attractive than promising endless riches and plentiful wealth, yet this is the real outcome for all these prosperity panhandlers: feeling good is the real end result. And anyone - anyone!!! can feel good, regardless of their circumstances. Is that not a promise of freedom? Yes it is. Imagine being happy, peaceful, and serene despite all external circumstances. This is bliss, this is peace, and this is worth more than all gold in the world times ten. Law of Attraction study opens up the doorway to this place of peace. This is what meditation teachers and various healers and even religious leaders have taught us over the course of human civilisation: the way to do is to be; the path to peace is to be, not to do. What does all this mean? It means, that conscious choice of thought and focus and feelings liberates the human spirit from small-minded petty concerns and opens their perspective and insight in to the divine that is all-powerful, all knowing, and eternal. This is much more exciting than a brand new car, no?! But you really want that new car, I know. I can feel your yearning. It pulls you forward, it gets you up in the morning, and it motivates your choices and feeds your action. However your unrelenting hunger for possessions is really insatiable because you do not allow your pleasure in being to come to the fore. Now let me be clear: there is nothing wrong at all in desiring a new car, or any other possession or experience. These are all part of the delight in being human and being able to experience a wide range of experiences, material and otherwise. It gives you a reason to get up in the morning and provides you with focus. However, focus can easily turn to obsession and hunger. This is the path to the Dark Side, my friends. Unfulfilled desires that keep you hungry and unsatisfied will eat you alive from the inside out. Your desires will turn to obsessions at the expense of your current enjoyment. The worst part is that you will also experience the 'when..then' equation which is a guarantee for unhappiness and delayed gratification. "When..then..." equations set a person up for disappointment. They operate like a computer software program in your subconscious. They program you to feel 'when I achieve/have/experience 'x', then I will feel happy/fulfilled/satisfied". The problem is that the 'when...then' equation is the default operating system so that when you do in fact achieve something, then you will replace that goal with another one. The satisfaction, if felt at all, is fleeting and soon replaced with hunger for the next thing. Anthony Robbins explains this as the distinction between "achieving to be happy" and "happily achieving". If you achieve to be happy, you will be focussed on achieving and never really get to 'happy'. If you focus on 'happy' then it matters not whether you achieve or not. Being happy becomes your default experience. The real secret is holding the tension between that which you desire and do not yet possess or experience, and being in a place of acceptance of what is. This creates clean energy that feels good. The whole process is delightful, effortless, and easy. This is a place of peace. It is what I call the equation of 'in the meantime'. Let's take the car example again. Let's say you want that Maserati Turbo Spider. Ok great. It costs at least $200 000 that you don't currently have or foresee having in the near future. However, rather than succumb to a 'when..then equation' such as "when I get that Maserati Spider then I will feel fabulous", you can choose a different software, one that operates along the lines of "even though I do not yet have the Maserati Spider, I trust that I will find the resources to attract this car in to my life, that I will follow my intuition in creating the means for this to happen and in the meantime, I love my life and all the gifts I experience each day just by being an inhabitant on the planet." 'In the meantime' affirms both your desires as well as the gifts and gratitude for what currently is. It creates the best of both worlds and a true sense of living a magical, graceful, and inspired life. Confused? Did this just go right over your head? Fear not. Here is a simple message for you to take away and synthesize into your brain cells: Feel good now. That's it. From here, you will find grace, peace, and a truly rewarding life.
