How often do you stop and count your blessings? Once a day? Once a month? Never? We need to be aware of how much we have to be thankful for. Can you stand up every morning without pain? What a blessing! Do you have two legs to stand on? Do you have a roof over your head and food in your refrigerator? Do you have a refrigerator? Look at all of your blessings!

Do you have people in your life who love you? Do you appreciate how special that is? I recently met a woman who lost her husband of 25 years very unexpectedly on Christmas Day. She reminded to love my husband every day because you do not know how long you will have.

Do you have some place to celebrate the holidays? Do you have people that you want to celebrate with? More blessings! Do you have children who are yelling and getting excited about the holidays? Blessings without measure.

Can you see the beautiful flowers? Can you feel the heat of the sun? Do you hear the patter of rain drops? Even more blessings! Do you have people who can support you when you are down? Are you there to be a good friend to others?

There are many blessings in our lives, large and small. Life is so much sweeter when we recognize all that we have to be thankful for. So, I challenge you: get a notebook and put it next to your bed. Every night, just before you go to sleep, write down two of your blessings. Then go back occasionally and re-read all of your blessings. See how sweet your life is!
