A bohemian or 'boho' interior is all about the relaxed and laid-back style and vibes. It is all about mixing and matching colours, textures and patterns. The bohemian style is an eclectic interior style, this means deriving styles or tastes from a broad and diverse range of sources. This for instance means using different things from different cultures, different places in the world and different ways of living.
About the bohemian style
The boho style is based on a having a relaxed, comfortable, warm, cosy and colourful Moroccan rugs interior where people live in. Creating a inviting space to relax, live and hang out in is the essence of a boho interior.
How do you reach a bohemian styled interior? We will explain how you can easily give your interior a bit of a boho boost!
There are two ways you can go about creating a bohemian or eclectic look for your interior.
- Go all in: mix, match, go crazy think completely outside of the box. Nothing is too crazy!
- Create a nice subtle bohemian interior: add a few subtle bohemian items to give your interior a more bohemian vibe.
Go all in can be inspired by the Moroccan style. Adding patterns on patterns, using a variety of different (bright) colours and use different textures.
The nice subtle bohemian is very well illustrated by the Ibiza interiors. In the Ibiza boho style a calm base is used and some bohemian items are added. Think about a bright coloured pouf, plants and natural materials.

The time has come. How can you give your interior a bit of a boho boost? Here are some tips:
- Embrace handmade and/or vintage
"Perfect imperfection" boho doesn't have to be perfect. The bohemian style is inspired by artists and celebrates the story behind items. Whether its something you picked up during a wonderful trip abroad, or you inherited beautiful furniture or just found something awesome at the thrift shop. With the boho style you can make almost anything work in your interior.
- Natural materials
Plants are a great way to add a pop of colour, without changing your interior drastically. For instance you can also change it up a bit and play with the pottery of plants. Choose for example some bright coloured pottery.
- Textures
Bohemian is about more is more, you can add all types of different textures and items to your interior. Think about rugs, baskets, wooden furniture, leather furniture or even plants.
- Mix and match
Patterns, textures, colours, light. The boho style is all about mixing and matching items. Layering rugs or pillows, adding a bright coloured furniture item or create a bright feature wall. In other words the boho style is based on maximalism rather than minimalism.
The most important about styling your bohemian interior is choosing items that you love! On the other hand, whether you choose to go all in and add many different colours, patterns or textures. Or just go for a subtle boho boost, and just add a beautiful rug and some pillows. You have to do you! And remember "perfect imperfection" of Azilal rugs.
