When you look back at your life are you proud of who you are and what you have become? Are you the person you thought you would be?

As a woman in your fifties or beyond you have had more than several decades as an adult. I am sure you had hopes and dreams, goals and plans. At least I hope you had hopes and dreams for yourself! And even if you didn’t you can always start them now can’t you? You can always step forward to create a different life for yourself if you put your mind to it.

When you honestly look at your current life, is there room for improvement? Take a look at these areas and answer them honestly. • Financial Security: This is a very important piece for women. If you are financially secure do you know how to keep it that way? It’s one thing to have money coming in, it’s another to know how to keep it and not have it flow out in ways that put you at risk. If you are not as financially savvy as you believe you need to be it may be time to take a class or talk to an expert to learn how to live a financially safe life. The statistics of older women living in poverty are staggering. • Relationships: Do you have the type of relationships with your children, your family or your friends like you wanted to have? Have you taken the time to nurture these relationships? There may have been a time when you were raising children, building up your career or otherwise so busy that maintaining positive and healthy relationships was low on your list. Is it time to take an honest look at your current relationships? Are you giving of yourself and receiving what you need and want? As we age relationships is often what keeps us viable and healthy. Take a look. If this needs fixing, fix it. • Career: Are you a working woman? Are you doing the work you love? There may have been times in your younger years when the main goal of your job or career was simply to put food on the table, pay the mortgage and save for college. Those days may be over by now. If you do not love you job, if you are just putting in the hours until you retire, then maybe it’s time to take another look. Life is too short! Do you need a new job? Do you want to start your own business? Is it possible that if you simply make small but important tweaks in your current job you will be happier? Time to take an honest look. • Health and Wellness: How well do you take care of yourself? This is another area that women may put other things first, and going to the gym or for a walk too low on the list. Your health is your responsibility. Assuming you want to live a long and healthy life you must take charge and make it happen! There is no truth in the belief that women over fifty are overweight and out of shape!

When you look over this short list, how do you fare? When you were younger and saw your life in front of you, is this what you saw?

There is always time to be the woman you always wanted to be. Take an honest look and make any necessary changes. You deserve to be your best and live your best life.

I wonder how many of you even know. I'll bet a lot of you don't know. Or you kind of know but not really. It's vitally important for you to know. For some of you, if you have a more 'elaborate' retirement planned (lots of travel etc) you will need more than someone who has very simple wants and desires. There certainly is no right way but you need to know your truth. One of the lucky things about being a woman is you generally live longer than men. Wonderful!! But you will need more money.

Is there ever a bad time? I don't think so. And I also believe that if you ramp up your business your life will change and if you ramp up your life, your business with change. I really don't believe you can separate the two but for now I want to focus on your business.

Ethical Wills have been around for many generations but seem to be regaining their strength. That may be simply because many of you are getting to the stage in life where you begin thinking about what you are passing along to your children or other loved ones. Another term for Ethical Wills might be a “Values and Vision Statement.” In a nutshell, it is a tool for passing your memories, values and traditions to your loved ones and future generations. Keep in mind that an Ethical Will is not a legal document.
