Breakfast literally means breaking your fast. When you are sleeping at night, you are considered to be fasting as you are not consuming foods or drinks of any kind. Therefore it is important for you not to go too long without a meal, or rather, your breakfast. Unfortunately, so many people do not take their breakfast!
It has been found that many parents actually do not take their breakfast. This bad habit may be passed on to their children, as they usually take their parents as role models. Skipping breakfast constantly will very easily result in you gaining weight. Breakfast is necessary to help you to lose weight and keep in shape as it kick-starts your metabolism in the morning.
Breakfast is usually treated as the most rushed and cheapest meal of the entire day, but it should actually make up to at least a quarter of your daily nutrient intake! Therefore, you should definitely start paying more attention to what you are taking early in the morning. Best foods for breakfast to encourage fat loss will be a high protein and complex carbohydrates diet. Some examples of great foods include oatmeal, lean chicken breast meat and egg whites among many others. When you do not take your daily breakfast, you run the risk of having lower concentration span and energy levels when you are at work or school. Hunger from not taking breakfast can also cause cravings for junk foods.
It is important for you to know that the amount of weight you gain will be much greater when you regularly skip your breakfast. Whenever you skip your breakfast, your body becomes starved, causing insulin levels to reach a low, causing you to crave for foods like chocolates and sweets. These foods which are high in sugar will then cause a sudden blood sugar level spike, causing your metabolism to slow down resulting in harder fat loss.
Thankfully, all these can be reversed simply by starting to take your breakfast daily again. Start off with a piece of fresh fruit and low-fat milk for your breakfast. When your appetite early in the morning during breakfast improves, then start to take a more wholesome breakfast meal.
The best types of breakfast meals include foods which are high in fiber content, such as oatmeal. This helps to lower cholesterol levels and prevent the risk of constipation.
Also, taking fruits in your breakfast along with your oatmeal will help you get a great start to your day, with lots of vitamins and minerals to keep your body healthy and slim.
