Who needs a stinking personal trainer? I can work out myself. I can go to the gym, lift the weights, and run on the treadmill, all by myself. Why in the HECK would I want to pay someone $50/hour or more to tell me what I already know? Not to mention the fact that they are always in your face, yelling at you to do more reps, watch your form, keep your back straight, blah blah blah. Who needs it? I am perfectly fine on my own thank you…or am I?
I mean, I have been working out for almost 4 years now, everyone knows me at the gym. I am there at 6pm on the dot, like clockwork. I get in the locker room, change into my gear, get my iPod cranked up and stick on my headphones. Yep, I am ready to go! Gotta get my water bottle filled first though. Can’t workout without plenty of water! Hey, there’s Jason! I have got to see if he saw last night’s Hell’s Kitchen…nn”Hey Jason! Listen, did you check out Gordon Ramsay last night? Wow! He was…”

Ok, crap, still gotta fill up the water bottle. Hey, a brochure for rock climbing. I always wanted to go rock climbing, and this place looks pretty cool! That reminds me, I want to work out my quads today. I should do some squats. Great, there are like 5 people hogging the squat rack. I will just do some leg extensions to start with. I don’t want to go too heavy anyway. I have that nagging injury from when I was shoveling snow 2 years ago…there, water bottle is filled and…what the? Stupid iPod is fading in and out, must be the headphones. Maybe I can run out to the car and see if I have my spare pair in there. I hate working out to the crazy music they play here, just not my style. Hey, here comes Mary Ann, she always looks fantastic! I have to find out what she is doing…nn”Mary Ann, what is your secret? You look fantastic!”
“Well, you know that new Pilates class they started here? Well…”

Ok, now I am good. Got my headphones working, water bottle is full, got my workout towel and…AAAHHH, now I have to go to the bathroom.
Ok, all good. You know, my legs are fine; maybe I will just do a few curls. Don’t want to push too hard. I hate doing curls though because half the time my arm hits the cord on the headphones and pulls them off. I hate that! Maybe I will just do a mile or two on the ole recumbent bike. That will work.
Yeah, I have been working out here at this same gym for almost 4 years now. I am here at 6pm almost every day. I know everyone that comes here and everyone knows me. Like I said, who needs a personal trainer? Yeah. I know. I do…
