Caring For Your Pets In Times of Economic Uncertainty

Perhaps one of the worst things for someone who loves animals is to hear about how many people are forced to give them up when times "get tough". It's so heartbreaking, so utterly intolerable. Each time I hear of such a person, I am immediately distraught...and on a mission to make it so they don't have to do it. I mean, I can't imagine for a second that I could give up my critters, regardless of how little money I may have at any given moment. I'm pretty sure I'd stand on a street corner and ask for money before I'd give them up. But that's me.
I feel it's a most important issue, especially regarding our elderly citizens. In case you aren't aware, statistics show that elderly folks who'd otherwise be living alone, but who have a pet, live TEN MORE QUALITY YEARS than those without? TEN YEARS! Imagine what it would be like if they had to give up their beloved companion. How awful would that be? It's bad enough to be without one's spouse, and perhaps, most of their friends, but to have to give up their pet....just because they don't have the means to care for it???? THIS MUST NOT HAPPEN!
I'm writing this today because it happens to be something that keeps popping up. I'm quite certain there are people out there who'd help if they only knew how. So here is my proposal:
I am about to host a radio show that will deal specifically with animal care, fundraising for the elderly to care for their pets, and various other animal related topics. If you, or anyone you know, is involved in such an arena, please contact me. I would love to speak with you about appearing on my show. And perhaps, we CAN make a difference! Don't just think about it...do something!
