Badminton rackets have different characteristics that you must know to choose the racket that best suits your game or regularity. The parameters to take into description are the following:
Parts: the handle, the rod, and the head are the three main parts of the racket. Something very important to look at is if the racket is made up of 2 parts or 3. What do we mean by this? The rackets formed by 2 parts are those that the head and the rod are the same pieces that are attached to the handle.
On the other hand, we find the rackets where the 3 components are independent pieces that come together. It is important to pay attention to this small detail since the rackets where the head and the rod are separated are leisure rackets.
Material: we can find badminton rackets made of steel, aluminum, or graphite. Steel is a very resistant but very heavy and uncomfortable material, we will find it in leisure rackets and some occasional racket rods.
Aluminum is used in occasional racquets as it is lighter but with little flexibility. Finally, graphite is found in regular and intensive rackets since it is a very light material and can be both flexible and rigid (depending on the usefulness of the racket). A piece of advice! The most comfortable and manageable rackets are graphite.
Badminton rackets are made of carbon fiber along with a wide variety of other materials. Carbon fiber has an excellent strength to weight ratio that equals steel in hardness. Rackets were previously made of lightweight materials such as aluminum but were attacked by corrosion after a time, and more anciently still, of wood.
Balance: balance refers to the distribution of weight on the racket and directly affects its handling and power. A neutral balance has provided versatility between power and manageability. A balance on the head provides greater power, while balanced on the handle provides greater manageability.
Flexibility: the flexibility of the racket can be found in 3 different degrees. Flexible rackets provide power but less control and extra rigid rackets provide control but less power. If we are looking for a racket that gives us both power and control (neutral) we should take a rigid racket.
The weight: the weight of the badminton rackets is reflected in grams and this varies between 75 and 100g. If we want a racket that gives us more power, it must be heavier, while if we want it to give us more maneuverability, it must be lighter.
