Clarifying you vision is the first step to achieving your dream. It will be difficult to step into your life dream if you don’t have a definite vision of what that is. Creating a unique vision means clearing away all the doubt and fears you may harbor about accomplishing your dream. If you are willing to step into the process with soul-searching honesty and a deep desire to live your dream, you are well on the way.

Once you’ve defined your dream (along with the compelling reasons WHY it is important) then the next step is to ask yourself this absolutely essential question:
“What is the work that my dream is asking me to do to achieve it?”
Plan from the End Backr
Take the vision of what your life will look like when you achieve your dream. Now think backwards from there to clarify what steps you will want to take to reach this dream. Mapping this out is a great visual exercise in becoming clear about the steps that will be necessary to complete your vision. Allow yourself to brainstorm ideas without any limitations. Let the creative juices flow!

  • Do you want to take certain classes or seminars?
  • Is certification or a degree important?
  • What organizations or people could you network with?
  • What sources of information are available to you?

These should give you a good start on creating the steps towards your dream or vision.

A great tool for this exercise is a Mind Map. There are free Mind Map programs available online. I happen to use Mindomo.com. The cool thing about these programs is that you create a mind map that is uniquely you. Plus you can easily adjust it as you go along. Here’s my work in progress. ï

Set Goals

Once you have clarified your vision, it’s time to set some goals or achievement markers. Make a series of goals that have short term and long term aspects. You will discover that they build on each other, one goal leading to the next and so on.

Small steps towards your dreams are often the most rewarding. Instead of casting about for that one huge win, stay with consistent, small steps that take you closer every day.

One key point to remember is to stay focused on your dream and the markers along the way. There are many distractions that will come across your path. Know what actions and paths are important in moving towards your dream. Be able to recognize if it’s a rabbit trail or a real step forward.

Stay open as to how these steps may show up in your life. Life happens, no doubt about it! Realize that what at first may seem like a set back may actually be a blessing in disguise. There is a lesson to be learned in every experience.
F.E.A.R.

You may thinking there is no way you can do this. You start getting caught up in the how-to’s. You feel frustration and doubt creeping in. Your subconscious mind is sending warning signals like the Robot in “Lost In Space” because you are traversing uncharted territories. “Warning! Warning! There’s Danger ahead!”

STOP RIGHT THERE! Take a few deep breaths and relax. Leave all excuses at the door. Now is the time to choose what you really want in life. It’s time to believe and have faith. Now is the time to let go of fears.

If you are passionate about seeing your dream through to the end, you will choose to step into the uncharted realm of new experiences. When you believe in your dream, the ways to complete the steps will appear. Focus on your vision, not the what if’s.

Celebrate Your Progress

Celebrate all your wins! As you move towards your dreams, check your progress. Rejoice in every small step that brings you closer to your envisioned outcome. Give yourself credit for staying the course. Have gratitude for all that is brought into your life. Enjoy the journey of your life.

AND the most crucial thing of all – Own It! You are the creator of your life, so step up and step in.
