Sometimes the quality of the grilled food depends on the cook. It depends on his technique and method. Sometimes, it depends on the ingredients used. The fresher the ingredients you’re using, the more delicious the outcome. But sometimes, no matter how fresh your ingredients are and no matter how perfect your method is, it still doesn’t turn out quite right.
In this case, you might have to check the state of your grill. Dirty grills sometimes affect the taste of the food you’re grilling so, cleaning your grill will definitely help you produce better tasting food.
You’re going to need the following materials in order to properly clean your grill.
- Warm Water
- Dishwashing Soap
- Small Bucket
- Stiff Wire Brush
- Cooking Oil
- Cleaning Rag
So, the first thing you’re going to do is to fill the bucket with warm water and mix the soap in. Make sure that the bucket is wide and not too deep.
Then, you have to take the grates off of the grill and place them into the bucket. Leave it there to soak while you move onto the other steps of the cleaning process.
There are two kinds of grills and the third step will differ depending on what type of grill you have. If you have a charcoal grill, then, take the coal grate out and brush out the insides of it. However, if you own a gas grill, then, remove the flame shield so that you can see the actual burners.
The next thing you have to do is to clean the residues that have gathered around the burner with a cleaning rag. Afterwards, it is vital to make sure that when you’re done, the burner is in the right position. You have to make sure that the burner is in the place where it is supposed to be.
Afterwards, grab your stiff wire brush and a little bit of warm soapy water and use these together to clean the inside of the grill. Basically, all you have to do is scrub the inside walls of the grill clean. When you are done scrubbing, just get rid of any leftover particles from the grill and reassemble everything.
If you have a gas grill, then be sure to wash the metal flame shield with warm soapy water. After you have done this, remove the grates from the warm soapy water and use your stiff wire brush to clean any other particles that have stuck to it throughout the soaking.
When you’re done, coat the inside surface of the grill with cooking oil. Don’t forget to coat the cooking grates as well. When you have completely coating everything you need to coat, put the grates back on the grill.
When you’ve done everything, let the whole grill air dry for a couple of minutes and then you’re done!
The next time you’re going to grill, allow an extra five minutes for the grill to heat up to burn off any cleaning solutions that was left behind. Remember, regularly coating the inside of the grill and the grates with cooking oil will make cleaning your grill so much easier.
