Clearing Physical Pain with a 10 Step N- EFT Protocol
Written by Dr. Anne Merkel
Whenever a client presents to me with a physical ailment I usually follow a certain basic protocol as I support the person to feel better. Of course this is customized for each case, however, I am happy to share this as a guide.
Using my own version of meridian based tapping, N- EFT/ Neuro- Emotional Freedom Technique, here is what I look for and clear:
1. Pain & obvious symptoms: whenever there is pain or when symptoms are showing up, it is easiest to clear these so they are out of the way as we go deeper into clearing the cause. I use the full EFT protocol with NET/ Neuro Emotional Technique, AK/ Applied Kinesiology, Reiki to do this.
2. Fear: we have been taught by society and many doctors that we are victims of our bodies, and that when the body has a problem we must turn outside of ourselves to find help. When we feel powerless in any situation we feel fear, so this is a good time to clear that. The EFT “collarbone” point is good for this.
3. Victimhood and lack of control: while we are focused here, this is a good time to clear all feelings of being a victim to our body and health. Use the “collarbone” point for fear & vulnerability, the “base of the index finger nail” for lack of control or feeling controlled by the body or by doctors, and use the “under eye” and “under nose” points for letting go of emotional blockages around this as well as lack of personal power.
4. Emotions around the diagnosis: often a diagnosis has been made – or not, and there might be fear, dread, confusion, frustration, many other emotions around this news (or lack thereof) and how it was presented to the client/patient. I utilize the EFT short form plus any other tools that are needed per case.
5. Treatment fears: as treatment time approaches there is often fear, dread, concern, etc. about the procedures, the outcome, the cost, other details. A full short round of N- EFT might clear this up.
6. Treatment issues & process: as the treatment is carried through (such as chemo, radiation therapy, surgery, etc.), there might be additional issues. Remember that each time a person has surgery the subconscious may believe that he/she is going to die, so this needs to be cleared. And, toxins need to be cleared from the energetics whenever anesthesia or drugs or chemo are administered. I use many tools in my toolbox for this… including N- EFT.
7. Prognosis: in many cases a physician has presented a condition’s prognosis, and this can be very depressing or scary for the patient/client. A full N- EFT round with special attention to the “collarbone” point will help.
8. During this process if the pain moves or other symptoms show up, then tap them away.
9. Fear of the future: often a patient/client is fearful that a condition will return. This may be based on negative cases of others, a personal experience, or on a habit of worrying. Any and all of these can be cleared with EFT.
10. Dark dread, fear, out of control, depression: in severe cases of fear for one’s life a patient/client may enter into a “dark night of the soul” period where they feel overwhelmed by negative emotion. In this case a facilitator who knows how to deal with this is best. Sensitive and gentle support is required, and it is best to look for the deeper emotions that go beyond the steps above. When hope is lost a person can easily die, so the energy therapies that can support a client at this point of severe trauma or post traumatic stress, must be administered gently and with great skill and understanding. Trauma can generally be cleared easily, however in a case of physical issues, then it is necessary to find the cause of the physical ailment and clear that. At least one third of all physical manifestations relate directly to emotional causes, and then one third relate to chemical imbalances (sometimes brought on via emotional imbalance), and finally the last third of all cases relates to accidents (that could have been somehow caused via emotional imbalances). So, in all cases – especially with serious physical illness – it is imperative that a facilitator focus on the underlying causes of the dis-ease, condition, illness, pain.

It is my personal philosophy – from my own experience – that NOBODY needs to suffer or to live with pain!
